Description: La Trompette opened in 2001 and serves some of the best food in London but without the formality or prices associated with the capital’s top end establishments. We closed at the beginning of 2013 for a complete refurbishment, and have expanded to include a brand new kitchen, private dining and improved customer facilities. The new appearance has not changed the focus of the restaurant. The aim is as it always has been, to give all our guests the best possible dining experience from start to finish.

visited on fri 21st dec two years since our previous visit and I must say the food was great but I do feel we were forgotten about a little bit,all in all a pleasurable experience but nothing to get overly excited about, regrettably.

A good restaurant with good food but ultimately quite dull. Nothing original or new. All food fine but very forgettable.

I'm lucky to eat out a lot, either when travelling or around London. I have eaten at La Trompette before, but the meal we had last Saturday at lunch was really very good and would not have been out of place in a much more highly ranked establishment. Our starters were partridge and the butternot squash tarte tatin. For main we both chose the slow -cooked beouf en daube. All this food was extremely good to ther point that i'm at a bit of a loss to know how a 2* or 3* restaurant could have made them better. Good bread, an interesting bottle of wine from the lower end of the list , and decent coffee. Timely and attentive service; no grumbles when we asked for tap water rather than the heavily marked up bottled stuff. All told a really good meal.

On a 5 point scale, 5 can't only mean absolute perfection, so if I just mention that to me the sommelier only just stopped short of being intrusive and he needs to learn that some people appreciate more advice than others. And a warning note to those who expect amuses bouches, pre-desserts and extensive petits fours. There's none of that here, you get good food very nicely cooked and IMO anyway, well priced.

A very good, reliable restaurant although did not blow my mind on flavour. The main course could have been hotter. The waitress was observant and excellent. Got a feeling they know they are successful whereas I enjoy more excitement as to whether you the customer agree. The wine was excellent.

We had this reservation for 7 people and a few days before the day we were to arrive we needed to change the reservation to 9 people. Not only was the lady unaccommodating but she was RUDE!! At first, I thought that maybe it was because I was an American calling (keep in mind we travel to London 1-2x per month). A London friend of ours decided to call himself and the lady was exceptionally rude to him as well. Our last try was to have a friend that speaks fluent French to call. The lady (suprisingly) wasn't nearly as rude to this friend but still would not budge on increasing our reservation to 9 people. Truly unfortunate, because if the service and food was good, we would have made it a regular restaurant.

Everything happens for a reason however.......we found an exquisite French restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere and isn't near as costly, has a fabulous wine list and the staff is over the top accommodating and friendly. The food was spectacular!!! We went to Le Vacherin and that restaurant will be our new "go to" place with clients when we are looking for French food.

La Trompette from what we have gathered from other London friends has gotten the reputation of being snooty. That's too bad, because they will now be missing out on a lot of regular patrons.
