Discreetly tucked away on St Martin's Court between Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane, J Sheekey is a stone's throw from many of the West End's theatres, the cinemas of Leicester Square and vibrant quarters of Covent Garden and Soho. The Royal Opera House and Coliseum, Palace Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Wyndham's, Duke of York and Noel Coward Theatres are close by, making the restaurant perfect for pre and post theatre dining. This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and has been around since the 1890's. There is a great variety on the menu from lobster and fresh fish to fish and chips and fish pie. The service was excellent. It is in a great location close to the theater. We will be returning.

Really nice afternoon spent in the place, only niggle was a fishbone in my partners cod (should really of been pinboned properly) and that they did not have razor clams available but they were on the menu, if something is not available please dont tempt us by prenending it is! My food was faultless. Great wine list, not cheap, but you pay for very good food and service.

Had dinner here Sunday 2nd June.Food was very good, simply done but well cooked.Started with the dressed crab, followed by the grilled halibut both dishes were very tasty and well cooked,my friend had the potted shrimps followed by the lobster salad,we both shared the minted jersey royal potatoes.
We finished of with a plate of frozen berries with warm white chocolate sauce, they were great and good choice to finish our meal.
the restaurant was not that busy but overall the food and service were excellent and would highly reccommend J Sheekey for fish lovers.

I had to take a US partner organisation for dinner and recalled that Sheekey's had great atmosphere with good food as well. I haven't been for over ten years but as it's difficult to get a reservation I just assumed the standards would be the same. I was really disappointed on this visit. The front of house staff are all great and we were sitting at the oyster bar which I'd really recommend if there are just two of you. The wine is good - not a huge selection but some that are good value. The food was terrible - I think unless you go for the seafood platter or oysters then you're going to be disappointed. The worst dish was the crab salad that came with iceberg lettuce, a bit of crab meat, one solitary prawn and some marie rose sauce - all sitting in a glass 80's style prawn cocktail stemmed dish. At the prices they are charging they need to put a lot more thought into presentation and quality of the food. The reputation guarantees that they will always be full but there are so many better restaurants offering that type of food that I'm sorry to say it's highly unlikely i'll go back ... or recommend.
