Description: In the heart of Covent Garden, J Sheekey is a fish and seafood restaurant offering the finest fish, oysters, shellfish and other fruits de mer. Discreetly tucked away on St Martin's Court between Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane, J Sheekey is a stone's throw from many of the West End's theatres, the cinemas of Leicester Square and vibrant quarters of Covent Garden and Soho. The Royal Opera House and Coliseum, Palace Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Wyndham's, Duke of York and Noel Coward Theatres are close by, making the restaurant perfect for pre and post theatre dining. All fish is responsibly caught from sustainable sources.

Behind the slightly tired-looking part mirrored exterior, there lies a culinary delight for anyone who loves fish. The menu claims they 'also serve meat' but I wouldn't have the nerve to ask. This is, quite simply, all about fish.

The service is welcoming and attentive, professional without being snobbish or overbearing. The dining room is well planned, and has a cosy feel about it, with the walls covered with photos of celebrities past and present.

But to the food. I tried the Chargrilled Squid for the starter, and a John Dory main. Both were cooked to perfection, and presented beautifully. There is an extensive wine list. Their deserts are also worth saving room for: the Cru Virunga Chocolate & Honeycomb Bombe is particularly good (and you even get to eat a bit of gold leaf!)

Overall the restaurant is very good. I have held off rating it excellent purely since I think it is a little expensive, but then it is in central London, so perhaps I'm being a little mean. Try it for yourself, if you love fish you'll love Sheekey's.

If you like fish you'll love J Sheekey. This has to be the finest fish restaurant in London (or anywhere else for that matter!). Situated in the street alongside the Noel Coward and Wyndham's Theatres, this is a gastronomic delight. The service is attentive and certainly adds to the dining experience. The food so fresh you can smell the sea, beautifully cooked and excellently presented. The wine list is extensive.

Corrigan's Oyster Bar (off Regent Street) is very good, but J Sheekey is way out in front.

A delight for all fish lovers, meat dishes are available for any companions who prefer something different.

When in London, if you are looking for a delightful dining experience to complement a visit to the theatre then J Sheekey will not disappoint.

Booked a table for our wedding anniversary ordered the sea food platter for two with the lobster.
Huge amount of very fresh seafood had a few platters in other restaurants but cannot compare to this even the ones I've had in Paris.Great service well worth the money.

Nice setting, some eating stations nice, but not all, food slightly too meddled with, small portions, service indifferent, overpriced (house champagne £55 !). Rather more the place to be seen (by whom ?), than a culinary experience, better to cross the channel for 24 hours and have proper crustaceans served naturally. There are better restaurants in London which offer much better food for the same money.
