Description: This Spitalfields steakhouse has wooed much of London since opening in 2006; word-of-blog has only served to create an even bigger buzz around the restaurant and its food. A case of the emperor's new clothes? We think no.' Time Out Spitalfields was our first restaurant, and the general view is that it is where the 'Hawksmoor spirit' is best embodied - many of the staff have worked there for years and would never consider elsewhere. Great steaks, great drinks and an amazing atmosphere, full of people who desperately care whether you enjoy your evening. We are located just down the road from our namesake Nicholas Hawksmoor's Christ Church Spitalfields and 10 minutes walk from Liverpool Street, Old Street and Aldgate stations. It can accommodate 115 people for exclusive hire and the back section of the restaurant is ideal for groups of up to 55. The restaurant can be hired exclusively for a meat-fuelled party, corporate function and wedding receptions. For information on private hire and events, please contact our events department.

We purposely arrived early to enjoy a Champagne Charlie and Bottle of Manhattan before sitting at our elected table. Johnny made the Champagne Charlie and one sip told me it was flat. In an instant, a fresh one appeared and was perfect. The bar staff were friendly and their service a pleasure. Once seated, 2 roast beef plates were ordered and were served with piping hot bone marrow gravy to salivate over! The native lobster was equally as good. This restaurant lives up to its reputation as being one of the best roasts served in London and we were not disappointed. Friendly, friendly staff and a very pleasant experience. Definitely will re-visit.

We went for a special lunch - good service and quickly taken to our table. The dry martinis were perhaps insufficiently chilled, but we were picky.
We tried the express menu- the caesar salad was outstanding as was the steak. The Royal Bream also got a thumbs up.
All in all excellent food and service - but the bill did creep up!

As promised, the food lived up to its reputation, it was busy and noisy. However we all had the steaks and although delicious, it was a little more expensive than we had anticipated. All in all though, the staff were helpful and it was well worth the wait.

Good buzzy atmosphere, basic furniture but very clean.started with Tamworth belly pork ribs ,succulent, melt in the mouth.followed by 400gm ribeye steak, triple fried chips and grilled bone marrow in the bone.never had the latter before ,a pleasant surprise.Portions are good sized. Not a cheap place, but top rate quality.

This place is reckoned by many to serve the best steak in London - and I wouldn't disagree. What you need to know, though, is this: You are going to have a very expensive evening, in a very noisy very hot restaurant, and the A/C couldn't cope. The tables are pushed together close, and although the waiting staff are friendly and relaxed, the service is not really up to the standards expected at these prices (forgotten drinks orders / menu items unavailable). So, the food: Lobster cocktail? £17.50, for a few small bits of lobster and lots of salad. And the prices don't just stop at the steaks: they charge for the sauce on top (£3 per pot), chips (£4), and veg (£4-£5); but you'll not really notice these things when the bill arrives: 300g Fillet Steak? That'll be £34; 500g Sirloin? £28, and 900g Porterhouse? £81 (enough for 2, yes, but you're also paying for a big bone...). So, a special night out, oh sure, go for it, but I think these prices are a wee bit OTT, to be honest....Mind you, the steak is very, very good.
