Lunch today was perfection on a plate - well several actually. Thank you to the chefs and staff for moments of sheer culinary poetry, framed by excellent service, a friendly atmosphere and a gracious and well-tuned setting. You can tell Gordon from us that you guys run a truly excellent restaurant - and you are welcome downunder anytime provided you don't invent crocodile parfait! regards Gen and Andrew.

The wonderful experience we had at this restaurant is surely worth of the expense and the reputation of the restaurant. I wanted to organise a surprise for my husband's birthday and the choice was two evenings in two different restaurants labelled under the name of our favourite tv chef, Gordon Ramsay. The first evening we tried sushi at Maze, the second one this stellar place in Royal Hospital Road. I purchased the vouchers in advance directly on their website: a very useful and easy way, which, in addition, gives the impression to save money (you pay a part when buying the voucher and the difference, i.e. additional services and wine, at the end of the dinner). Though expensive (as to be expected in a three Michelin star place), I must say that prices are cheaper compared to similar places in Italy and that you won't regret to spend your money. Before booking, I asked some information to their website, receiving a quick and exhaustive response. As for booking, I reserved online all the same: as I realized at the arrival, the place is not quite big, therefore you must book early in advance (many reviews suggested three months earlier; I did it two months earlier and was fine). They will contact you by phone a week earlier to confirm reservation. The process was smooth and fine, perfectly efficient. Due to the fame of this place and the consequent request, it is natural that booking process must be perfectly organized. Moreover, I specified that this was a special occasion and they promised to keep note of that.
At arrival, we perceived a formal and elegant atmosphere, which makes you feel somewhat nervous or afraid of making a pas faux (you have so many people of the staff taking care of you); this formal atmosphere of the beginning, however, rarefied during the dinner, making way for a kind, thoughtful and attentive service. In particular, we would like to mention here the French maitre, his vice, an Italian young man, and two younger waiters, a Korean and another Italian. The secret of a perfect success is the team work, which is here perfectly respected, in the dining room, as in the kitchen -which we were allowed to visit at the end of the dinner. It seems no chance that Gordon Ramsay himself in his tv shows stresses how important cooperation between the members of the staff is. No wonder that the restaurant is expensive (especially wine; food, in my opinion, is on the pricey side, but rather fair compared to the standard), because they have a lot of people -I was told about 30 in total- and, according to the high standard, kitchenware and cutlery are changed after every course. The excellent quality of the service, however, deserves more than the usual 12,5% which is charged. It seems that they have a special eye for everyone -as it was for my husband, to whom they brought a special birthday cake at the end of a wonderful dinner. We had the seven courses of the Prestige Menu, which include foie gras and duck, lobster ravioli (excellent), halibut and king crab on a spicy couscus, pigeon or lamb, and three luscious desserts (mango smoothie, cucumber and mint sorbet, yogurth and honey lemon parfait). Each dish was simply perfect, as to be expected from this renowed place. Surely, this is not a restaurant where you can go every day, but the quality of the food and the originality of the recipes, with unusual matching and ingredients (caviar or finger lime, for example), the care in the service, and the fine elegance of the ambiance will make you remember a special occasion.

Definitely worth the entire journey, as Guide Michelin defines 3 stars.

First class food created by the amazing head chef Clare Smyth. Many options and menus, but why not try my favorite 7 course tasting menu, which kicks off with the smoothest foie gras terrine followed by the restaurant's classic dish: ravioli with lobster, langoustine and salmon. Next dish: halibut and crab with a broth with middle-eastern spices. For main course you can choose between lamb and the wonderful Bresse pigeon, followed by your own choices from the cheese trolley. Finally two desserts: cucumber sorbet with herbs followed by a fresh dessert with parfait and yoghurt sorbet spiced up with both citrus elements and a sweet tuille. Food is perfectly executed, seems to be delivered with preference of slight sweetness even to the savory dishes.

The chef sommelier Jan Konetzki makes every effort to secure the perfect match between wine and food - his choices are "spot on" every time, and if you ask him to create a wine menu, you are sure not to be disapponted: some selections are classic, some from the new world, some work with the dishes, and others are in opposition, for instance when you enjoy a rich dish, which could benefit from a young wine with fresh fruit and some acidity.

Maitre d' Jean-Claude Breton is the perfect host, and together with his always friendly yet professional staff, the service runs ever so smoothly, leaving the guest feeling ever so good, just wanting to return as soon as possoble!

I have enjoyed many visits to Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, and I can highly recommend this.

We were there today for lunch. Very well looked after from the minute we entered to the time we leave. Great recommendations on wine. We ordered from the a la carte and had sautéed foie gras and lobster ravioli for starters, pigeon and pork for main. Foie gras come in generous portion. Everything was immaculate. Peppermint soufflé was excellent, not too sweet. Overall a great afternoon.

The food was fantastic as expected given the prices we paid but it was the incredible service by all the wait staff including the Director throughout the night that made this the best experience we'd ever had. To top it off, we were invited into the kitchen after the dinner! I ate at Epicure a week after this and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay still tops it for us!
