“Recommended! Welcoming place in Hamstead!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

On Saturday night we have decided to go eating out. Well, to be honest we called a few places but it is almost impossible to find a good place with yummy food in London if you did not book a table in advance, the answer is “sorry, we are fully booked tonight”. But after an hour or so, one of us said, let’s go to Gaucho, a place where we quite often eat. At least, we know that place, the quality of the food, the offered wine list selection etc. So, we were lucky – they have found a table for 6 of us at the fully booked restaurant in Hamstead even it was a very too short notice, just an hour in advance.

The food was great as always - we all had delicious steaks for our main courses (girls ordered marinated steaks – Churrasco De Chorizo, Churrasco de Lomo; boys – Gaucho Tasting plates), salads such as mixed and tomato ones, domino potatoes etc. We all agreed that this place was the best one for steaks we have ever eaten (we eat out quite often!). Some of us prefer rare to medium, some medium and medium to well. So, meat was cooked to perfection.

The average bill is roughly £50-60 per person without a wine.

The atmosphere was great. The staff were all very efficient whilst being friendly and welcoming. All in all a good night out.

We would definitely recommend this place!

“Fantastic experience!”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

I went to Gaucho for my birthday, it was the greatest idea!
The meal was fantastic, I loved the octopus salad.
As a dessert I ordered ice-cream and they arrived on the plate decorated with "Happy birthday"-what a nice touch!

“Excellent Food and Ambience”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Gaucho Hampstead does fantastic steak. There is no denying this fact. It also has a fantastic atmosphere, the decor is modern and interesting, the cocktails are good with plenty of 'specials' on offer. The service is very friendly, although on occasion you can find yourself waiting a little too long for someone to come take your order. The staff are always polite and friendly though, so you can forgive this. Being london there is no parking, so a taxi/tube is advisable (plus more opportunity to enjoy the cocktails) and it is not cheap. You can easily do £150 - £200 between two of you if you have starters and dessert and a decent size steak, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and Gaucho Hampstead certainly delivers on this front. My advice for first timers - don't order a sauce. The steak is tasty enough where you won't need the sauce, it's caught me and my friends out on our first time! Highly recommended for both couples and groups.

“Extraordinary Experience for a Group Event”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Last night I attended a "tasting" event at Gaucho for 20 people. The experience was magnificent. We were greeted with champagne and small starters. We were then invited to a back area of the elegant restaurant and were personally welcomed by the owner of the restaurant. Throughout the evening, we were served 5 gorgeous starters and several "tastes" of different cuts of steak. Each course was accompanied by either wine, red or port wine, as appropriate. The food and wine were delicious and beautifully "matched." The entire evening was elegant and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for either a group event or a romantic dinner for 2.

“A truly great experience”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

It was my boyfriend's 18th and I'd already let them know this with a suggestion that a cake with a candle 'or something' would be nice. They instantly greeted us with a glass of champagne each and were very friendly and helpful. The food was of course divine and the service excellent. We decided that we were too full to have dessert but after asking for the bill the waiter brought him a sticky toffee pudding with 'happy birthday' written in sauce on the plate and a candle. Both the champagne and the pudding were free. I was so delighted that they had gone to the effort of making it such a memorable evening. As a student the price (£50 for us both) wasn't cheap but it was totally worth it and deserved for the special occasion.
