Classic fish and chips in proper fish and chip shop that looks as though it hasn't changed in decades (a veritable feast of formica). Good value and generous portions top the whole thing off. Eat in or take away.

Classic style chippy with fish and chips way above the average London standard. BYO helps make the meal more special - but you might like to bring your own corkscrew just in case (staff had probelms locating one when we went.)

An Institution.

I studied abroad in London in 2005 and lived down the block from Fryer's Delight. It was always packed, your fish was fried to order, service was quick and you received a generous serving size. Had the pleasure of stopping by six years later and happy to report that everything is still the same. Definitely a no-frills place, communal seating, and you get a great mix of locals, students, ex-pats that come in.

There's not much to say here.....The Fryer's Delight is a no-frills take-out or eat-in restaurant, with cushioned, bench seating and plain decor. You don't come here to be wowed by the architecture - this is a proper fish and chips shop.

They serve the closest I've come to tasting what fish and chips *used* to be like and if you want to know that's like without going 'up north', then visit here. But be warned, it gets busy at lunchtime, especially Fridays when office workers (like me) treat themselves. If there's no room to sit down, there's a couple of small parks round the corner you sit in.

The only downside I can note is, that while it's a restaurant, there are no toilets (and none for some distance around)....so families with small children should take note. The food and staff are great though. Give it a try :o)
