otherwise than between the starters and the main course. My wife had the "astonishing value set lunch" and I had two starters (the oysters to share though) and a lobster risotto. Crispy oysters ok but not spectacular. Risotto likewise and I liked it more than your reporter below did. But my turbot? OMG. It looked as appetising as a boil-in-the-bag fish and tasted little better. Accompanied by some kale and discs of potato and turnip, I am sorry to say it was the most disappointing plate of food I have had in a good restaurant. Ever. And it cost, by itself, significantly more than said wife's set lunch which she enjoyed immensely. There is a moral there. Incidentally we went on BYOB Thursday - what a splendid idea and I wish more restaurants would follow suit. Someone start a campaign please.

First time here and was impressed with the service - staff were helpful and friendly. Most important thing was the food - lots of flavour - tasty - good size portions. Good selection of wines to try with your fish. Location is good. Good decor and fab atmosphere.

Sometimes people are unwilling to call a spade a
spade and food is very much a subjective matter of taste
However, apart from the service and ambiance - both exemplary - and the set luch if you want it excellent value - the food is bland to the point of boring
A lobster risotto swimming in a luke warm puddle, heavily infused with orange masking the taste of the fish
A monkfish of excellent quality again with a bland mess of leeks and mushroom
If you like flavour in you food there are now better fish resturants in London - one within 250 yards.

Overall we had a lovely evening here. We went on the BYO night so not only did we save significantly on the wine but we also drank what we liked even if (horror) it did not go 100% with the fish.

We opted for the tasting menu which was a bit of a mixed bag.

Scallops (raw) were great. Interesting flavours and a great way to try raw scallops.
Lobster risotto also fantastic - great flavours and I could have eaten 4 or 5 times the amount as it was so good.

The two mains in the menu were mackerel and bass - these felt like fillers because it is supposed to be a fish restaurant and while they were executed well they were not very exciting or very large. I know it is a (6 course) tasting menu but never the less they were little bigger than canapes and certainly not distinguishable in size from the "starters).

The pineapple dessert was great - two very tart/acidic fruits (pineapple and passion fruit) toned down to perfection. The chocolate and lime tart was dry and disappointing - a small tart served as part of a tasting menu should be more exciting than this and it was a disappointing way to finish the meal.

Overall I enjoyed the almost 4 hour dinner, and left content but not full (good and a bad thing).

Adjust the portion sizes slightly and remove the tart and the menu is a winner.

Staff were generally top notch.

Just back from the Restaurant, having had the set menu for lunch..which, at 20 pounds a head, is amazing value for this quality - food and service.

There were four of us. Between us, we had all of starters and mains. All tasty, beautifully constructed and presented and with sensible portion size (i.e. not too small but not uncomfortably filling!). Lovely selection of fish and meat. What made the meal so special was the service, the attention to us and the sheer professionalism and discrete accommodation by the kitchen of one of our party who is lactose intolerant. (I mentioned this when booking and everything had been already thought through to make our lunch so good- from the oil with the bread instead of butter (we normally have to request this) to the kitchen having a special dessert ready in case we wanted that.
Thank you so much - we will be back
