Description: West India Quay is a thriving part of London in the heart of the Docklands. The Browns building was once a sugar warehouse, built in the early 19th century by Napoleonic prisoners of war. It has a truly distinctive atmosphere and a lovely external seating area overlooking the dock. The site is spread over two floors with a large front external terrace and lower ground floor bar garden. Come and enjoy our innovative take on classic dishes, or join us for one of our legendary cocktails in the heart of the Docklands.

Fri 4th Mr Havebag enjoyed a Lovely Lobster Tagliatelli so the jealous Mrs Havebag followed him in on the 9th, oh dear, we wernt to know but this time it was not pleasant at all. Not bad, just not good to taste and nothing like the week before!
Also, on the recommendation of the waitress Mr Havebag tried the Whole Lobster, another mistake, Very small (not much more than a jumbo parwn) and Absolutely Tasteless!!
When I was offered to give my opinion of said tasteless 'lobster' and answered honestly I wouldnt have expected the reply to come back as "well, you still ate it all'!! Cheeky monkey!
Is our normally reliable and mostly enjoyable Browns to be added to the list of 'forget about it's'?
Maybe, especially if Mrs H gets her way (and she Always does).

We've been to this restaurant several times, and so far we've had a few really nice dishes, and a few that were just ok, all the way to outright bad.
There are certain dishes that they seem to do consistently well. The eggs benedict is really nice, as are the seared scallop appetizers, and the tuna carpaccio. We've had each of these a few times, and they are consistently good. Other dishes, though, are more of a gamble. The boar burger was nice when I had it the first time, but dry and bland the second. A lamb dish on the menu at one point was just a bit off - overcooked and tasteless. The worst dish we've probably had were the scones for breakfast. They apparently store them in the freezer, and pop them into the microwave before service. The one we got was half doughy, half too hard, and overall just inedible - so was sent back. The waffles, on the other hand are great.
The one thing that stays consistent, regardless of the occasional poor dish, is the service, which we've always found excellent. The staff are accommodating, and go out of their way to give their customers a good experience. For example, we showed up over an hour after the end of breakfast at one time, but the hostess still went down and talked to the chefs to see if they would make us a batch of eggs benedict, which they did. This kind of thing, along with the fact that there are some really good dishes here, keeps us coming back. The trick is just to find what's good here, and stick with it.

We had an early New Years Eve Dinner at Browns. The Manager...James Warrillow spent a fair amount of time with us...chatting and giving us input on where to go for the night's festivities. He was awesome, as was the waitstaff and the food.
I highly recommend this restaurant, if you are down by the Canary Wharf. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Not sure where to go we settled on Browns in Canary Wharf. Together with our two friends and a well behaved five year old, we weren't sure. It came time to order and there was a good quality children menu. Very impressive, though I know not everyone will apreciate this but Browns have cracked it. I could go into detail on the individual dishes, however as we all ate different dishes and were all fully impressed with the quality of the food, no need to dwell there, however, I do need to comment on our waiter Alex, he was brilliant and made the evening, attentive but not invasive, he really did make it a very special evening for the five of us. OK it wasn't that busy but I think this guy would deliver a similar experience to anyone he waits upon. Loved it many thanks Alex, you're and asset to the organisation. Haven't been able to post your picture but will try when I feedback on the corporate website. Food was great service excellent, cocktails very nice indeed. :-)

Went here for our staff Christmas meal. Very disappointing and average food. Smoked salmon to start was good. But the roast turkey was very disappointing and the vegetables were very under cooked. Desert of figs and vanilla ice cream, very poor. Drinks good value, a per-ordered jug of cosmopolitan great price!. Staff were very friendly and efficient and seemed to cope admirably with a great number of large parties.
