Even though the staff didn't understand my very best efforts at speaking French, this is a real little gem in Farringdon. The food is prepared with the utmost care, and tailored to sweep you off the grey London streets straight to romantic, luxurious France. It's like a mini holiday for the senses during your lunch break. Okay, okay, I'm exaggerating, but it really is a treat.
All the staff speak French, and make a point of doing so, which, along with the classic French all-star menu, is undoubtedly one of the main pillars of the concept.
Today was a sunny day in London, which allowed us to enjoy our salade Nicoise in the shade of an olive tree in the courtyard. Alright, it was a rather small one in a pot. But an olive tree nonetheless. After all, it's London. You do have to hold up your end of the bargain and dream a little.
Moi je dis 'bravo'.

Lunch at the BH Bistro was an inspired prelude to a bling shopping trip to Hatton Garden, just up the hill. I have been coming to the BH since my early career days when there was just the restaurant. Expansion of the offer latterly may have got the better of the establishment temporarily as it re-evaluated its identity; but I was pleased to experience again the same attention to quality and classic French cooking combinations. For mains, we had a sating Bouillabaisse, and roast rabbit in mustard sauce with tagliatelle and sweet baby carrots. Simple gravadlax and a wild mushroom tart with poached egg set things up nicely. Good wines by the glass...just enough to summon courage to purchase jewels...but not too much as to cloud ones mind to the negotiating that lay ahead. I will return soon.

This was my second visit and I will certainly use again in the future as both the food and atmosphere is great for an informal business lunch.
Also the house wine is excellent and again as with the food is very reasonably priced for a central London location ( although not the easiest restaurant to find!)

We had an early evening dinner at the Bleeding Heart bistro. The story about the location is typical London and the interior suitably presented.
The service, wine and food were all of a high standard; you never felt rushed or a nuisance for slightly changing the dish or asking questions. I would recommend for all occasions - girly supper, birthday or for a date.

I have been coming here for years. Its a wonderful spot with a lovely quiet terrace for the summer. great food, reasonably priced and very good service a la francasie. Well worth a detour if youre in London and want good, relatively simple proper French food.
