Description: Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant designed by Christian Liaigre has recreated the luxurious glamour of the past by combining Chinese history, tradition and architecture. Wooden lattice screens carved out of dark English oak invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking that will be informed by a progressive approach, underpinned by authenticity rather than traditionalism. Hakkasan Hanway Place has launched Dim Sum Sundays, a weekly lunch event hosted by resident lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12:00 until 17:45.

“WATCH OUT FOR THE TRUFFLES”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

I first came here when it opened around 10 years ago. The restaurant has held up well though the lighting needs looking at as everyone's faces are under focused down-lighters which cast downward shadows and make everyone look eery. Food was great though while the menu said they were serving spicy stir fry seabass with white truffle it was actually black truffle - lovely but not the same and a fraction of the price. Dessert was given in compensation and when I said they shouldn't have charged for the sea bass they took it off the bill. I wonder when the menu will be reprinted. This is a seriously expensive restaurant - the bill with just 2 glasses of chablis before compensation was £190 after, £136. Still - I'd come again.

“Good Restaurant but a bit too overhyped”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

Went with a few friends and had a nice meal. food was really nice and to us worth the money but the service spoiled the experience and for this kind of restaurant I would expect a much higher level then it was. on entry the welcoming staff are great and really welcoming. ordering is fine but with a lot of restaurants the actually service during the meal was poor. most frustrating as the restaurant was not very busy and the waitress looking after us, a table of 4 and a two tables of 2 in her section so I can't even blame it being busy. annoying because the only but pivotal let down

“Sumptuous feast...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

Great evening, great meal...we chose lots of different dishes to share and i would particularly recommend the morning glory, lotus root and lily bulb, prawn in curry sauce, chilli beef and duck. The squid was a little disappointing. Great Choice of drinks and cocktails. We were not rushed in any way and yet the place seemed very busy. Service was good but not overly attentive. Worked out about 60 £ per head including beers, cocktails andplenty of food...tho the whole duck alone was 100£ and i simply cannot believe we got our whole duck as we were given 16 tiny little pancakes with small squares of duck and one duck dish...i suppose i am used to having the whole duck stripped at table as i lived in china for 7 years! All in all though we hada great evening and left feeling good and well fed.

“Not as good as it used to be.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

The service was not good. No waiter smiled and it took a while to get someone's attention. The food was luke warm. We asked for the head waiter to try and find out if it was just (another) off night and we were sent a waiter who looked as though he didn't understand us. Even the towels at the end of the meal were cold. So disappointed as the first five times we have dined at Hakkasan were excellent but the last four times have been poor. Poor enough to now review negatively. The staff were actually so rude at one point we finally complained to someone who looked in charge and he immediately apologised and said we would receive dessert on the house. Which we were grateful for and enjoyed. However we will be booking Zuma or Roka next time.

“A special treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

My boyfriend and I went to Hakkassan for our 1 year anniversary. As soon as we arrived through the doors we felt special and the staff were extremely welcoming. The decor inside is absolutely beautiful and has a very elegant vibe to the place. The cocktails are out of this world (I recommend Fizz-on-the-burd) I was impressed with all of the food bar the dim sum (but I don't really like prawns too much anyways) We had a set menu for £60 each and got 2 starters (dim sum & tea smoked ribs), 5 mains (inc. beef in merlot, roast satay chicken, cod etc) and 2 deserts. Absolutely fabulous. The one thing I would say is that wine is very pricey, the cheapest bottle is £34, but then again the wine was delicious! Would highly recommend for a special treat!!
