Description: Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant designed by Christian Liaigre has recreated the luxurious glamour of the past by combining Chinese history, tradition and architecture. Wooden lattice screens carved out of dark English oak invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking that will be informed by a progressive approach, underpinned by authenticity rather than traditionalism. Hakkasan Hanway Place has launched Dim Sum Sundays, a weekly lunch event hosted by resident lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12:00 until 17:45.

“Destination dining”
Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

Looking around Hakkasan on a rainy Saturday in February, it's hard to believe there's a recession in the uk! Absolutely heaving - every bar stool packed and every table full. This is clearly a destination restaurant, but thankfully the food. service and buzz mostly live up to expectations. I took my friend for a special birthday meal - it was her first visit and she loved it. Great bar and good service, no rush for the table even though we had been told we had to eat within 8-10pm slot (we stayed over this). The clientele is broad - young, old, families, business diners, first dates (the girl at the table next to us had an eye popping top on - not that her other half seemed to be paying that much attention and only one of the oh so professional waiters was momentarily distracted by the view!) - everyone out for a good time. There's a house dj and a night club vibe, but it all works. The menu is extensive and we lazily chose a set menu option, which was very good, not outstanding. The last time I went there I thought the food was better but honestly it doesn't matter as the overall experience has a "wow factor". They don't really need this review - the place will be full every Saturday night anyway (efficient email booking service b.t.w).

“Brilliant food and service”
Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

I am not a great lover of Chinese food so visited this place as an exception. And wow - what an experience. I has dim sum and crab and my wife had duck rolls and prawns. All of the food without exception was simply brilliant. Great flavours, fresh food. The service was impeccable with a great attention to detail. Loved it!

In terms of the downside, about £60 ppn without any alcohol was not cheap and def a bit on the high side. The place has a lot of noisy business clients and so not the best atmosphere for a lovely romantic dinner. But in terms of food and service, you can't go wrong.

It was like "what is that? I don't know! It's good!" all the way... the food is really good, well conceived and great tastes. Really different, and very trendy, you will like it for sure :)

“A feast of outstanding food!”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

My first time to Hakkersan and totally impressed greeted at the door then again by name at reception and showed straight to our table. Really organised for 8pm on Saturday evening, the whole experience was amazing. Superb food, wine and ambience. Looking forward to my next visit to London to experience this again!

“Mixed feelings...”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Had been looking forward to our visit but on arrival were put in the bar for 30 minutes as our table wasn't ready. When we did get our table we felt rushed and towards the end of our meal (after 90 minutes) we were positively pushed out to make way for the next seating (despite the lengthy delay getting the table in the first place). We asked for coffee and were told that there wasn't time - the table was needed for someone else! As we left we saw the front desk promising to clear more tables for customers just arriving. This place seemed all about diner turnover and generating money...

On a positive note, the food was some of the best Chinese food I have ever had.

Unfortunately however the prices were correspondingly high (occasional dishes on the menu over £100!).

Left feeling unwelcome and slightly ripped off… I can think of far better ways to spend my money.
