Looking around Hakkasan on a rainy Saturday in February, it's hard to believe there's a recession in the uk! Absolutely heaving - every bar stool packed and every table full. This is clearly a destination restaurant, but thankfully the food. service and buzz mostly live up to expectations. I took my friend for a special birthday meal - it was her first visit and she loved it. Great bar and good service, no rush for the table even though we had been told we had to eat within 8-10pm slot (we stayed over this). The clientele is broad - young, old, families, business diners, first dates (the girl at the table next to us had an eye popping top on - not that her other half seemed to be paying that much attention and only one of the oh so professional waiters was momentarily distracted by the view!) - everyone out for a good time. There's a house dj and a night club vibe, but it all works. The menu is extensive and we lazily chose a set menu option, which was very good, not outstanding. The last time I went there I thought the food was better but honestly it doesn't matter as the overall experience has a "wow factor". They don't really need this review - the place will be full every Saturday night anyway (efficient email booking service b.t.w).
