Good for: Families with children, Large groups
Dining options: Lunch, Late Night, Breakfast, Dinner, Reservations
Neighborhood: Covent Garden
Description: Set in a former warehouse in Covent Garden, Belgo Centraal's staircase descends into a Beer Hall with long refectory tables waited on by staff in Trappist monk outfits and head sets. But this is no silent order; it's bustling and noisy with many customers tucking into steaming bowls of mussels in a variety of broths and platters. There are also two main dining rooms and a selection of more intimate dining booths. Seeking something substantial? The stews include Moules Blanches cooked in Bruges beer with smoked bacon, all served with frites. From the Rotisserie, choose from beer basted spit roast Belgian chicken or duck, or peruse the extensive main menu which includes the veggie-friendly Artichoke stuffed with Wild Mushrooms, Asparagus and Pine Nuts. Of course, there are over 50 Belgian beers to taste, including Fruit Beers in varieties such as cherry or banana!

Sometime since I last went but it was always reliable and went back this week. Still good food at reasonable price. I was recomended pork belly and it was excellent. Fairly good choice of beers as well.

The food was good, enjoyed the starter salad as well as the muscles. Our waiter was very friendly, helped us decide on what beers to try. We had a nice relaxing dinner. We made reservations 2 days in advance and we were seated right away. Enjoyed the atmosphere, it was very busy and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'd go back!

Want typical good Belgian food and beer, don't miss Belgo Centraal.
Love the mussels, the stoemp and the carbonnade, the Dame Blanche and all other things Belgian (like the choice in Belgian beers)
All served in a very nice atmosphere with friendly service. Recommended by Belgians

Had the traditional mussels today with frites and a beer (Brugge zot brune). Mussels very good, as we're the frites. The beer menu is pretty impressive as well, especially if you want some other than the bitters and 'real' ales in the pubs. Service is a bit slow, although they are busy. Probably could use a few more folks taking orders. They were out of mayo and ketchup, too.

It's a comfortable place and loud, but that's part of the atmosphere. Good option if you have kids.

I'd probably try it again if I really want frites or mussels while in London, but wouldn't go too far out of the way.

Went here for a dinner with work colleagues - we were seated at a long bench table in the quirky downstairs area. The kitchen separates the two main dining areas, and one can witness all of the food being prepared, plated and the waiters/waitresses taking the orders.

The menu was fairly extensive (if you like seafood), in particular the beer menu. I opted for the 'posh-ages', with sides of green vegetables and fries. Well cooked and presented, nice flavours and plentiful portions.

Service was slightly haphazard, but this could have been because we were a relatively large group. A number of the waiters/waitresses were wearing rather odd clothing.

The main toilet washbasins were non functional, and so everybody (male and female) had to queue to use the disabled washbasin - not very impressive.

Personally, I didn't take to the style of the restaurant - a little too 'quirky' for my liking. However, the food was good, and it certainly beats many of the mainstream chain restaurants.
