“Excellent Food - Service could be better and......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

I recently visited the Oxo Tower Restaurant. Booked a late table to try and avoid the "rush". Arrived just before 10PM for our table to be told one wasn't ready yet. No problem, we will have a drink. 20-30 minutes later a table was ready - a little annoying but I guess you can't remove people when they are paying so much money.

The food was excellent, wine list good though over priced - to be be expected.

Service was not up to standard but OK. Doesn't justify the 12.5% automatic service charge. I felt they were slow and not interested.

Unfortunately we had a couple sitting next to us who were clearly living off Daddy's money - being foul mouthed and trying to show off to the blonde that was clearly interested in the credit card and not him. That's the thing - the tables are very close together and removes the intimacy that the restaurant is trying to achieve.

The views are stunning from the 8th Floor- especially at night.

“Fantastic restaurant!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

My partner booked a table for us as a surprise and surprised I was!! We ate late (10.30pm) in the restaurant and I can honestly say I was impressed!!! From the moment you walk in the staff are friendly, the atmosphere and decor are excellent, the views are amazing (St. Pauls lit up at night...amazing), the staff are attentive and friendly without doing what a lot of restaurants do and interupt you while your eating. The food, is, quite frankly amazing!! The blackened chicken starter was a surprise (a bit like a soup with chicken in the middle), fantastic taste, the belly pork...omg the taste was how meat used to taste and not forgetting the caramel cake with blood orange...the lightest sponge I have ever had in my life!!! Whilst it may be an expensive night out, they also have pre-theatre menus from around £30-40 per head, which is reasonable (especially in London). My partners food was also amazing, I would definately recommend this restaurant and am looking forward to a return visit!!!

“Great views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

This is a good 8th floor restaurant with breath-taking views over the Thames and St. Paul's. the food was very well cooked, lamb was delicious, the pork belly was really nice.

If so, why just 3 stars from me then?
Ok, the first star I remove because the waiting time between the meals was ridiculously long. How about 35 minutes?

The second star I removed because of the service. Our waiter was awful: really annoying: loud, unprofessional. Many stupid questions were was no way to asking it. For example, he tried to sell me wine 5 times, even I said "No, thanks" every time. And many more. What it was?

But finally I would like to be clear. This is a really good place and I would recommend it to you. There is other waiters in the restaurants, better than mine, the food is wonderful, the views are fantastic, the live singer is great and the receptionist is a really nice! So there is no reason to ignore it, even if my personal experience was not perfect.

“Worth every penny!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

We visited the restaurant early evening on saturday for a birthday meal. The food was amazing, service was great and the whole experience was great. I only happened to mention when i booked that it was for a birthday so didnt make a big thing out of it, so it was lovely when the desserts were bought out with candles for the birthday girl and happy birthday sung to her as well as a box of chocs and a photo taken of the whole party which was printed with a card to take home. We never felt rushed and it was very relaxed ( though u could tell the later it got the more 'money' arrived and seemed a bit more stiff) the views are amazing! I had visited The Ivy a few weeks previously and i can definitely say that the food and dining experience here won hands down!
