Description: Opened in 1946 in Mayfair, Franco's restaurant has been one of London's most popular Italian establishments ever since. It continues to offer local gourmets a tranquil oasis away from the buzz of the city. Set at the St Jamess end of Jermyn Street, Franco's is fantastically located for the galleries, private clubs and hotels of the area. And the pre-theatre and afternoon tea menus are a delight. The restaurants character evolves throughout the day from the early morning breakfasts to laid-back lunches and romantic candlelit dinners in the evening. The elegant 1940s-inspired dcor is bright and modern, with light wood, off-white walls and comfy upholstered dining chairs. Franco's sumptuous Mediterranean menu has been developed by Head Chef Paulo Parlanti and showcases fresh seasonal produce in traditional and modern Italian dishes. Popular dishes include the duck breast with Castelluccio lentils; ossobucco ravioli with veal jus; and the classic tiramisu. Service is flawless and the wine list is a winner too.

Want v good quality Italian food for lunch - especially of the seasonal variety? This should be on your list of eateries. If you want to dine in a relaxed atmosphere and be able to hear the person sitting across from you, then forget it. Helpfully, the service was unobtrusive and professional. Would I return? Sure - alone and with ear plugs.

it has been a year since my last visit to this place and i wasn't as wowed this time around. staff are very helpful and friendly but tend to prowl around tables when it was quiet looking for anything empty to take away from in front of you which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. i like malbec wine but as it wasnt on the wine menu i asked the waiter if he could recommend a nice wine for me. he couldnt really answer me and in the end i chose myself. the lasagne was as good as always but my starter of pheasant ravioli was overpowered by too much of a rosemary taste. this i feel should be a more subtle flavour. My husband had fillet steak and mash and this is literally what came - a steak, a bowl of mash - no garnish, jus nothing! it's a great location etc but i feel these are a few things which could be worked on.

Wonderful spot for a breakfast meeting. Good space between the tables, excellent service and the food was good. In particular the coffee was nice and strong.

I will return. It was busy and recommend a reservation.

Have travelled to London often for many, many years and have made a point to try as a many Italian restaurants as possible. Always re-visit Daphnes, San Lorenzo, Cecconis and so on but for some reason had not tried Franco's until a few weeks ago. Perhaps because when dining on Jermyn Street it's always at Wiltons. This is a classic, real deal Italian with the finest freshest ingredients prepared in the best traditional ways. The pastas were light and amazing, especially the lasagna. Salads sublime. Lamb, veal perfection. Great wine list. How do I know so many dishes? Returned for dinner two more times over the week stay. Should mention the atmosphere. Buzzing, vibrant even til late evening which I love. But if you want a quiet little spot this is not it. Great servoice, too. The best of England and Italy. Can't wait to return.

Food: Excellent quality. I has beef carpacci, fillet steak and profiteroles. All of it was very tasty, the portion sizes were average to generous (dessert was generous) and the choice on the menu is large.
Service: Service was prompt, helpful and friendly.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere was the only thing which wasn't great about the restaurant. The tables were too packed in to a small room and it felt like it was trying to hard to be formal.
