the young restaurant staff were friendly however the managing staff less friendly and were fairly abrupt when requesting time to decide on food. The wine took along time to arrive as did the condiments. The management seemed over dominant with the staff and would not let them finish their tasks. We ordered steak (mistake!). A Large piece of fat on a very small (no weight in menu) steak. when asked how was your meal and showed the waiter the issue he said he would speak to manager. This fell on the manager who tried to ignore the issue until I eventually beckoned him over. No apology! Disagreed that there was an issue and reluctantly removed 3 GBP from my bill. Sub standard portions, quality and customer service terrible. Will never go again. The whole meal was not of an edible standard and we left hungry. The advertised prices on the website are substantially larger. A side salad is 4.50 as a posed to the advertised 3.75. NOT ITALIAN FOOD!

We loved Paradiso e Inferno! We came without a reservation one evening after site-seeing. The service was prompt and attentive, the food was delicious and generous in portion size (particularly nice to order sides of vegetables), and the prices were reasonable as well. What impressed me the most was the staff's easy accomodation of my food preferences (no eyebrows raised when requesting plainly cooked food, without oil or butter, for example). I highly recommend this restaurant! It is also easy to find on the Strand.

Title says it all...If you are looking for a wonderful Italian food/wine/service experience in London, then Paradiso & Inferno is THE place to go. Minutes walking from Trafalgar and Covent Gardens stepping in is like transporting yourself to your favourite place in Rome.
Could write a book on how good the food, wine selection, service is - but will just offer this should be a "must" on any foodees checklist.

We chose this place on the basis of location, as we were going to the theatre down the street, and the sign looked cool....ok, that might be a bit like buying a bottle of wine 'cause you liked the label, but the menu looked good, too. It was a lovely meal, straightforward Italian fare and friendly service. We ate upstairs (Paradiso, I presume). Only visited the downstairs to get to the restroom, but the diners down there seemed happy. (I suppose Inferno is where you'd tend to find the most fun people). A good meal, at a decent price.

Okay, so this place wouldn't win any awards for classy modern decor, or innovative menu options but if you want a nice Italian meal for a decent price, just down the road from Covent Garden, then you can't go far wrong with Paradiso & Inferno. In fact think of Luigi's Trattoria in Life on Mars and you're just about there - and I mean that in the nicest possible way! In fact their website says they've had the same chef since 1969 so that might make sense.
And lots of celebrities have eaten there going by the proudly displayed signed photos addorning one of the walls.
I've been twice and the first time we went we were sat downstairs next to a table of fiery looking Italian Mammas which is surely the best recommendation you can get for an Italian restaurant!
