Been here several times and this restaurant never fails to deliver (food). Introduced by a friend, the place looks unclassy from the outside and the inside is cramped as well. Visit on weekends and you can expect to wait in a queue. Sometimes the queue extends all the way out on the walkway pavements so be prepared if you have to wait in the cold.

They have a decent variety of dishes for ordering. It's a small outfit so can't expect all kinds of Japanese food to be available. The most value for money would be the curry don (rice). Be it pork or chicken, the portions are big and the rice is also the Japanese kind (pearl rice).

The food here will certainly fill your stomach and if you're out for a place where you need both a bargain and quantity, head down to Misato for the curry rice.

I have been here many times over the years and the food is consistently very good to an extremely good price. It's not a place for a romantic dinner for two. The place is pretty cramped, but the good food and prices make up for this - no problem!

Always happy to come again :-)

Always have a good experience here, the food is good, authentic Japanese Inn style, affordable. They no longer even have a sign outside! so it is easy to miss except for the orderly cue of mainly Japanese & Chinese customers (always a good sign of authentic food).
Portions are huge.1

I went with friends for a late lunch and overall Misato is the kind of establishment that isn't flashy or tries to be. I've been told that on occasion there can be queues but we didn't encounter one on our visit.

The food is reasonable and filling with good potion sizes. One friend had a katsu curry which came a big plateful of rice, sauce and chicken and other two of us had a bento box. The food was tasty and reasonably priced but don't expect anything beyond that. The restaurant itself isn't fancy and the atmosphere is lacking (more of a canteen vibe).

I think if I was needing a cheap and cheerful Japanese meal then I would dine here again.

Yays

Good value for money
Reasonable food

Nays

Not the best Japanese food
Not the flashiest decor or atmosphere

I come to Misato quite often for dinner. The queue might often seem a bit discouraging, but the turnaround is quick and if you don't mind waiting for 30 minutes then it's not a problem. The restaurant is quite tiny and the decor is a bit lacking, but it never really tries to disguise itself as a posh place.

What Misato excels in is of course the food. It seems that the majority of the people order the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice for just over a fiver. Portion is very big (definitely bigger than what you would normally get in a Chinatown restaurant - although I noticed that it got slightly smaller lately) and food is tasty. However, I am not sure I would want to see how the kitchen looks, as the overall hygiene standard is not the highest. Service is efficient - but don't expect them to treat you like a VIP.

Overall, if you consider Misato as more of a fast-food that serves good Japanese food, then you're in for a treat. If you want a nice restaurant where you can eat a small portion for high price, but with nice decor and attentive service, then Misato might not be for you.
