Description: Struggling to choose between Italian and Japanese? Well, at this restaurant, cocktail bar and late-night lounge, you don't have to. After 14 years on Albemarle Street, Sumosan's relocation to Knightsbridge brings with it a menu that splits itself right between both, as well as a new name (twiga is Swahili for 'giraffe'). Beyond the monochrome entrance hall lies a basement lounge, a first-floor restaurant and the bar above that, with room for 200 diners altogether. This newcomer retains the same dizzying levels of interior swank as Mayfair. It's a concoction of black, bronze, alabaster and dark wood, overseen by Italian design studio Michele Bönan. The huge site has been undertaken in partnership with Flavio Briatore (the former manager of the Benetton Formula 1 team) and there's room for 300 guests over two floors. Our advice? Don't miss the miso aubergine and spicy king crab dishes. The famously sublime sushi is now joined by the likes of lobster paccheri pasta, in a fresh tomato sauce. Yes, there's a Limoncello Wasabi cocktail on the list, but this is cuisine for the indecisive, not the fusion fan.

We go to Sumosan every week! You can never get enough and you always want to go back! The most delicious sashimi and sushi rolls and the best chocolate desert! Must try!

The food was okay even though totally overpriced especially the starters. The cod was good, otherwise not the authentic fine Japanese I expected from all the jazz I got when booking. Staff friendly but not at the level of professionalism of a fine dining restaurant. Overall quite average.

Amazing atmosphere, soft music, fantastic food. We tried the rise pizza, which was delicious. The black code is soft and tasty, so far the best I eat in London. A place must be tried if anyone want to eat well and have a great mood.

I visited this resturant on the recommendation of a friend.
As the my friend was vegiterian we decided to go for this option for the whole meal.

It was terrible.

The tempura dish was still dripping in oil and the batter was certainly not light. this dish arrived witha dipping sauce with NO flavour whatsoever. It resembled water with one drop of soy sauce in it.
I then requested chilli oil, only to be told that the resutrant didnt have any and they gave me a 'chilli and garlic' dip instead. I was greaful at the alternative but to my disappointment this was a mushy paste from a bollte which i can pick up frommy local chinease suppermarket and i have one at home!!!!

the tapenyaki vegitables were just steamed and wilted on a plate. this compried of possibly half a carrot, half a courgette and half a red onion - for £16? there was no evidence of it having been cooked on a flat hot plate as tapenyaki is.

lastly the service was hopeless. we booked an early table as we didnt want to be rushed. dispite this we were told there was a 2 hour turn-around on every table! presumably so that people dont have a chance to complain!!!

the waitress was well spoken as was the greating party for 3 well dressed ladies but thats all they have going for them.

For 3 vegitable dishes to come to £65 is atrocious.they are not large portions either. I understand there is a quality of ingrediants issue but this cant cost any more than £6, even at Waitrose.
