“Best apartment house so far in London”
Reviewed February 25, 2010

We stayed in the Presidential Apartments Luxury One bedroom apartment and it was the best I ever tried in London, although I must have tried over a dozen. The location just could not be better with the District line tube 200 metres, great supermarket and drugstore, perfect restaurants on main street.
Reception takes even the nastiest request with a smile and help you every way they can. The rooms are large and clean, the furnishing is far from luxury but very practical. Perfectly clean, except you need to ask for having your bedlinen replaced otherwise it can stay for even 5 nights. The only negative is the slamming doors but this is the worst I can say about it. Simply perfect in every sense and for the category very much value for money.

We booked Presidential Apartments in Marylebone after we tried to book the Kensington location and had an issue with availability. Since we'd booked a studio in Kensington and they didn't have any studios available in Marylebone, we got a one bedroom instead.

The one bedroom apartment is very spacious, with a king size bed in the bedroom and loads of closet space. There's a bookshelf and good side tables by the bed, as well as a well lit desk. There's also a TV in the bedroom. The main room of the apartment had a kitchen, dining table, and a lounge area. The kitchen had a refrigerator, freezer, washing machine, oven and stovetop. There were glasses, cups, dishes, cutlery, a couple of pots, a kettle and a coffee maker. The lounge had a small pull out couch, pull out chair, coffee table and TV. The bathroom was large, with a good amount of water pressure, a nice heated towel rack and good counter space. The apartment was very well cleaned - the housekeeping staff do an excellent job here.

Great things about this place: The location absolutely cannot be beat. Walk 7 minutes south and you're on Oxford street at Selfridges, or the Marble Arch tube station. 10 minutes southwest and you're at Hyde Park. 5 minutes east and you're on the Marylebone high street with its lovely shops and restaurants.

The apartments are fully equipped for living, so you can cook, do laundry, hang out, whatever.

Not so great things about this place: I wouldn't call it luxury, simply because it is just a bit beat up around the edges. The cleanliness cannot be beat, but the areas could use a bit of a coat of paint if you wanted it to look top notch. Still, this didn't affect our stay.

What did affect our stay, however, was the fact that there was construction going on in the ground floor of the building. An office was being demolished, meaning that huge heavy skips were being delivered right outside our window at 7 am, and the rest of the day was interspersed with drilling, drilling, drilling that felt like it was going on right inside your head. This wasn't the hotel's fault, however, they could have done more to make it up to the people staying that week. Frankly, I felt that they shouldn't have accepted bookings while the construction was going on, it was that loud.

The washing machine was impossible to figure out, and when I did figure it, it still took 2 hours to dry a load of laundry.

We could have used just a bit more equipment in the kitchen - there was no baking pan. Also the first time we used the oven the apartment filled with smoke. Opening the windows solved this.

The walls were also a bit thin - we could hear the people in the next apartment carrying on normal conversation from our bedroom.

In the end, I would absolutely recommend this place to friends who want a centrally located, well priced accommodation with extras like a kitchen and laundry. If they wanted a more posh London experience, I'd send them to the Hyatt Churchill around the corner.

The rooms are spacious, clean, nicely furbished and fully equipped. Location is very convenient for shopping, museums and parks. Our room was very quiet and the air conditioning worked very well. Would definitely come back

Myself and two friends recently stayed in a three bed studio apartment at the Presidential Apartments for two nights. The apartment itself was very nice and included good facilities for the three of us, where a hotel room may have been cramped.
I slept on the sofa bed which was comfortable but by the time we had finished site seeing, I could have slept anywhere.
The apartments are a 5 minute walk from Marylebone high street which is full of independent shops, lovely restaurants and nice bars. The apartments are a short walk from several tube stations (Regents Park/Baker Street/Marylebone) but not very close to any which was a bit of a pain when we had heavy bags to drag behind us.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget apartment with good self catering facilities whilst visitng London.

Used Presidential Apartments for a short stay as my wife was in London to visit family. We stayed in a one bedroom and the facilities were great, although we didn’t used a lot of the facilities its good to know they are there if needed.

Construction work could be seen when we left the Apartment but our room was on the other side of the building so really wasn’t a disturbance for us.

Location was great, and the manger was also very helpful and seemed to always answer when we called the office.

Worst thing was the London weather.

Stayed here a couple of times. Yes, there was construction last summer, but we didn't find it that bad. We normally stay in a more classical place north of Oxford street, but sadly not available any more. Presidential is not as unique in that it could be anywhere, a 50s style building, but still, great location, and management very helpful. I can never use those British combination washer/dryers but they came and helped with a bit of a 'flood'. You can walk to three tube stations, we even walked/tube to Heathrow from there, no need for a taxi. We went for early morning walks and would walk home from the theatre at night (long walk), all very safe. M & S Food Hall is just down the road and opens at 8am, so perfect for picking up some breakfast items.
It is quite a 'Arab' area there, not that it matters, but just didn't seem as 'British' as where we've stayed before.

  • Liked — very spacious; as well as bedroom, two pullouts in living room
  • Disliked — ugly building
