My family were visiting from Cornwall on a late getaway to London , a first for my three young children!! We were greeted with a friendly smile and a reasonably tidy lobby , at that point the receptionist offered us a choice of a rooms, one in the basement or a family room ( no 15) upstairs we decided we would have the basement as she told us it was the larger of the two. We went down a dark staircase into a dungeon type room with a double bed a three single beds squeezed into the tiniest space. It was like walking into a 3rd world , i pulled the curtains back to let some light in and all i could see was a pile of rubbish lent up against the outside wall which blocked out any hope of a view. I then went to the reception to ask if we could see the other room which was smaller but slightly brighter . We accepted room 15 but were really disappointed with the hotel overall. The stairs looked like they were made of Polyfilla and the carpet was flapping on every step , the lift was a really scary experience in fact after the first 10 mins all we could find was fault after fault! My husband and i went to reception to complain about the condition of the room at which point she offered us the choice of two twin rooms, which we refused as my children are 13yrs, 11yrs and 6yrs so sleeping separately wasn't an option for us. We paid GBP 405 for a three night stay which in our opinion was way over priced for this standard of
accommodation. The manager was available and offered us the rooms for 300 GBP (3 nights), we accepted as it was getting late and i was worried that we would not get anywhere else at such short notice. During the night the hotel was noisy , hot , uncomfortable and not one of us slept properly. The mattresses were old and worn, i also believe they were riddled with mites as we all itched throughout the night!!!! We woke extremely early and decided that if we stayed at the hotel it was going to ruin our stay in London ( it had up until then !) We walked up the street and found the Hilton Metropole Who were extremely friendly, clean and very refreshing we booked ourselves into a family room for an absolute bargain. We returned to the Haven and demanded our two nights back but because of their cancellation policy we were only entitled to 30 GBP refund!!!!!
This hotel is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, the staff are not helpful and , the whole hotel is, in my opinion, a disgrace to the hospitality industry, it needs to be assessed and closed down by health and safety and is certainly NOT a family hotel, i would advise anyone to STAY AWAY from the Haven IT IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST HOTEL, STEER WELL CLEAR!!!!!!!

I would never stay here again! I just arrived back from a trip to London with my friends and I wasn't happy at all.
For starters, they made us pay upon arrival(£105, which was far overpriced for what we got) and when we got to our room, we realised why! I myself nearly left and booked into the Marriot just down the road even though I had already paid for this one!
We were put into room 32 which is down in the basement, or The Dungeon, as we renamed it after spending just 20 minutes there. As soon as we opened the door, a disgusting smell as well as heat just hit us in the face. The bathroom door wouldn't lock and there were broken tiles in the floor and on the wall. Also, you could see out in to the corridor through the side of the door. Something that wouldn't give any peace of mind. At night, it was nearly impossible to sleep because of the heat and you couldn't open the window because there were people staying next door and they could look/get in if you did open it. The corridors were full of big blue bags or God only knows what and the floors were also very dirty!
The three nights I spent there were the worst 3 nights of my life. I even considered standing outside the main door and warning people to turn back and not stay there!

the room was very small considering the cost. the street was very noisy, with the sirens and buses.

The breakfast was excellent and the service was great.

the staff was pleasant and helpful.
