Owner description: Wilton's is the world's oldest surviving Grand Music Hall. After years of dereliction it is now open as a full time theatre, bar and historic landmark. This stunning and atmospheric building puts on a range of ticketed events including theatre, music, comedy, cinema and cabaret alongside to bars which are open to the public (free access). Please check the website before your visit as on occasional dates, Wilton's Music Hall is closed due to private hire.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Wheelchair access

I brought group to the Music Hall this month and what a building! It is so incredibly gorgeous in that antique, rough around the edges way that is so East London. It is a historian's dream.

I had a small glass of wine in the pub after our tour, prob should have had a beer but c'est la vie. The tour was informative but could use some serious editing of material. I felt bad because I so desperately wanted the tour to be amazing because I wanted to donate all the money in the world to keep it open and restore it (but it is stunning as is may I say). My suggestion would be for the tour to add more material about music hall itself allowing for interaction from the visitor and certainly less minutiae about the nearby neighbourhood. It is nice that research has been done, but edit, edit, edit!

What a cool building though, would certainly suggest a visit and look around to other lovers of old buildings, London history, or music hall.

We went to Wiltons to watch a play, Britannicus which in itself was excellent. However, we intend to return soon to have a better look round the premises - which is the oldest musical hall in the world and have a drink in the cafe/bar. It's absolutely amazing. For an added bonus the salad bar lunch was excellent too. It's not hard to get to. Easy to park at the weekend or tube to Shadwell or Tower Bridge and then a short walk.

Finding Wilton's might not be easy and sometimes heading over to East London feels like a bit of effort (especially with all the tube works) but this is a real London treasure and worth every effort.

The bar is friendly and reasonable priced (probably one for the ladies as the wine selection is excellent but there are only a few beers), the décor is pure shabby chic, lots of bare brick and wood but as it's genuinely old and like that, rather than made to look quirky, there's nothing pretentious about it.

The theatre itself is stunning. It's worth seeing any play (and there's a lot on) just to spend a while in the space.

A perfect date location.
