I thought I was going to an English Pub sort of hotel but found I was surrounded by Mexican decor & nic nacks in fact my electric blue bedroom with crucifixes and tiled mosaic bathroom made me feel I was in the artist Freda Kahlo's bedroom. The reception staff were very helpful, next door was a tapas style restaurant 'Angels & Gypsies'.Near Camberwell Green, an oasis of grass & tees in this energetic noisy neighborhood of people of West Indian & African heritage, the hotel was within easy walking distance of Kings College Hospital. John Ruskin Park where I sat back in a deck chair & listened to a wind ensemble play Gershwin one summer Sunday, environmental awareness encouraged by various gardening projects, this park was welcome respite from visiting at the hospital. The only qualm I had about the hotel was the range of alchohol available in the lounge upstairs with a honesty book system - not good for guests with alchohol problems.

Room Tip: I had a room on the street front - noisy but energising !

I have stayed twice at this hotel the first time the £90 room rate for an off suite double with a nice quality continental breakfast was a rare find and good value for money. How different I feel now having booked a deluxe en suite at the special rate of £140 (normally £155) to be told on our arrival that breakfast now incurred an additional £5 surcharge! Our deluxe (Room 13) was the same size as the off suite we had last time only with the addition of the bathroom - which was okay. The bedroom was so badly lit that we needed to use the mobile's flashlight when trying to access the internet. It was noisy - I had requested a room at the back which I felt for the additional money we should have got. How the management can justify an extra £50/65 for this room beats me.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for Room 13 and if you hate stairs probably not a hotel for you.

What a characterful hotel - it's like entering a different world from the busy street in Camberwell where it's situated. I was upgraded from a superior room to a deluxe room 6 which was as quiet as possible. The bed was super comfy, the l'occitaine bath products much appreciated and free treats of hot sauce, organic chocolate and bottled water were an added treat. The staff were helpful and friendly. We ate in the hotel restaurant downstairs which was delicious. The whole hotel has a Mexican/Spanish feel and the food reflected that. Very fresh tapassy type dishes. We invited friends to join us and although they lived in Camberwell never knew the restaurant existed. They like me will definitely return if possible.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back or at the side are quieter nb no fitness centre and swimming pool

In room 25 top floor. No sleep atall, adjacent doors banging all night, people coming in and out of rooms to and from the bathroom. Probably would have had more sleep in the lobby.
Room nice enough, very clean, reception staff very helpfull.
Cost 90 pounds one night shared bathroom and no sleep.

Room Tip: I guess try to get a room on the lower floors, and one with a private bathroom. Would be very diffic...

We had Room 29 at the back. The kitchen fans were working until 2300 and then back on from 0745 adjacent our room. The fans were noisy with deep rumble! I complained on Saturday but nothing was done! The hotel was full.
The room was wonderful and clean. Great bath room etc. the was very comfortable. The little bar was good for coffee and tea. A typical boutique hotel!

Well this is a hidden gem. Stuck away in Camberwell this bright and quirky hotel, with amazing tapas restaurant, blew our socks off. The room, designed with meticulous attention to traditional Spanish / Mexican design is unique. No cloned designs here. An amazingly comfortable bed, lovely crisp linen and nice touches, such as complimentary chocolate and still water, made the whole experience memorable. Add to that very helpful and friendly staff, we have been raving about our visit to anyone who would listen. One point to watch though, no lift and a warren of stairs to reach the rooms so any one with mobility problems may have difficulties.
The restaurant was wonderful, and very busy. Amazing tapas menu, and delicious and reasonably priced food, certainly for London. well worth a night out even of you are not staying.

Room Tip: Careful if you have mobility problems - lots of stairs and no lift.

Absolut fantastic hotel. The rooms are amazing (each room is decorated in a different way) with brillant beds. But pay attention: If you enter this hotel you need a GPS to find your room though they have only 33 rooms. But it's so full of nooks and crannies. Very very clean and high quality complimentary shampoo, shower gel and body milk. Also you have free WiFi access, a bottle of water, a small tablet of chocolate and a tiny glass of handmade spicy spread. Additional the have a lounge where you can take whisky, rum, wine and other spirits. you only note this on a sheet of paper and they charge it next day to your room. Tea and coffee are always complimentary. You also have a blue-ray player in your room and in the lounge there is a wide range of DVDs you can lend for free. Breakfast is included in the room rate and admirable: biological eggs, fresh baked wholemeal bread and croissants as well as handmade marmelades. Directly fresh squeezes orange juice ans smoothies together with organic yoghurt and biological coffee and tea. Last but not least parink is free (parking is maybe a few hundred yards away). Extremely helpful and friendly staff. And the best is their award winning restaurant "Angels and Gypsies" (see my separate rewiew)

Room Tip: Doesn't matter, each room is unique
