“Looking for a cheap clean secure bed for the night with no frills”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2010

The location next to Victoria station was excellent (2 minutes walk) The staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for us. The room quality is what you would get on a ferry except with double bed. This is ideal if you are only looking for a bed for the night with no frills. After a day sightseeing in London we slept like logs. It was suprisingly quiet. Note Easyhotels charge 5.00 for a room with a window - 5.00 for a hairdryer and 5.00 for use of the remote control for the T.V so next time I'll bring my hairdryer with me. They do provide Hand and Shower soap and towels. If you want your room made up this will cost you extra too. We were able to leave 2 bags with them on our last day at 5.00 for the two which is cheaper than at the station. They have chargeable internet access. At 25.00 per night ...you can't expect too much but I will definately use Easyhotels for city breaks in the future and they are growing nationally and internationally so I will be looking out for their new destinations.

positives-value is reasonable, location excellent, 5mins to victoria station. staff friendly. negatives- we normally stay at travelodges and were expecting something roughly par it wasnt. room had a bed and a bathroom, no other furniture or space 2 move around in, no where 2 put your stuff at all. bathroom tiny plastic unit, sit on the loo and your feet are in the shower. no air conditioning controls turns the room into a sweatbox. if u are a light sleeper this isnt for you, the air con whirred noisily and u can hear everything in the adjouning rooms. to be fair they do have larger rooms with windows however they apparantly use same bathroom unit. easyhotel would not be our 1st choice again.

The easyHotel concept is very simple: you get a clean bed, clean bathroom, clean towels and you pay extra for everything else (floor space, window, TV, drinks, etc). There are no "comforts" on offer (e.g. table lamp, bedside table, chair, desk, wardrobe, kettle, etc).

If all you need is a bed for the night and a shower, the easyHotel is great. If you're looking for more, this isn't the place!

A friend and I stayed here for one night while on a London shopping break. It's extremely close (5-minute walk max) to Victoria, so the Gatwick Express is around the corner and it's just two tube stops to Oxford Circus. The 38 night bus ends at Victoria so it's easy to get back.
Pricing is very transparent - you get what you pay for. Remote for the TV is extra, so is coffee, extra pillows and storage (5 pounds). On the other hand, if you don't need it, there is no hidden charge in the hotel pricing. Leaving your bag at Victoria will set you back 8 pounds.
The rooms are clean, no carpet (so it's even easier to clean), water pressure is great, there are towels and soap dispensers in the small bathroom. Of course it's not 5-star, but why would you expect that if you pay 48 pounds (for a standard room/no window, not the smallest room). I would go for a window room next time, just to avoid feeling claustrophobic. We stayed on the lower ground floor (basement), so it was quite warm, but not unbearable. Would definitely go back if it's just for a short visit where you need the hotel only as a base and a place to sleep.

Cheap, yes, but most certainly not value for money. By the time you add in payment for extra pillows (£2 each), using the TV (£5 a night - but if they've run out of £5 vouchers, they'll try to get you to pay for a £10 voucher even if you're only staying 1 night!), coffee (£1 for a cup of the most vile coffee ever out a machine), early check-in (£10 if I remember correctly), keeping baggage etc (£10 per bag)., you'd be far better going to a slightly more expensive hotel where all these options are included in the price. Take, for example, Days Inn Hotel at Waterloo - for around £70 per night, you can get a spacious, clean room (with carpet!), free coffee facilities, free use of TV, extra pillows, free safe baggage storage, access to a bar plus small restaurant and a buffet breakfast.

The staff at Easy Hotel were impolite and uninterested. 'En-suite facilities' are extremely cramped. There is no space to hang anything, no drawers - nothing - just a bed. There was only a small space on the floor where we could put our bag and we were in a standard not a small room! The room we were in wasn't particularly clean. How difficult is it to clean lino and dust a window ledge?!

I had read reviews before we went and really thought it could never be as bad as some people were describing - how wrong could I have been!

I stayed at easyHotel Victoria 3 times during the last 2 years.
PROS:
Great location (10 min walk from Buckingham Palace).
Good value for money.
CONS:
The rooms without window tend to be extra small and warm.
The rooms with window are a bit more comfortable even though there is no elevator in the building
Because of the small corridors things get noisy when other guests talk outside the room.
Every 5-10 minutes you can even literally ''feel'' the London tube passing by.
Certain coins (10p &20p) are not accepted by the Hotel. Also there is no change for 20 GBP bills.
Not a great service. No reply from easyHotel when I sent negative feedback.

Central and convenient location. Within walking distances to tube station, pubs and fish-N-chip joints. Some of the rooms are very small. So small that you can't even have room for a opened carryon except on the bed. We only stayed for one night (just passing through London) so it is OK, especially for the price that we paid. The stairwell is narrow and steep, so watch out if you are not physically in good shape. It is so narrow that a lady with a good sized luggage almost got stuck midway through the stairs. Also watch out for extras that can cost you quite a bit. The check in time is 3pm, and if you arrive 1 hr earlier, say 2pm, they would charge 10 pounds for early checkin. If you want to leave your baggage instead and check in later on 3pm, they would charge 5 pounds per bag to hold the baggage for you. So the bottom line is this easyHotel is very convenient, clean, and decent, but it is only a good value if you don't need any "extras" which are usually no charge with other hotels.
