“Lovely apartment - better than a hotel room”
Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

Booked this through British Airways and got a really good deal. Full price (as per apartment's web site) compared favourably against a standard hotel room such as Premier Inn. Quality far higher though. We chose a studio. Very large room with sitting area and lots of space to move around. Well fitted kitchen off to one side and pleasant bathroom to the other. Very comfortable furnishings. Location is not very central, however, it is a short walk from Victoria station, which suited us as we flew into Gatwick. Pimlico tube station is 5 mins walk away, and one change gets you into Covent Garden area in under half an hour. Great later at night after the theatre as you are going against the general flow so trains are quieter. Lovely to come back to a peaceful location to sleep. We had Continental breakfast included. It was good. Upgraded to a cooked breakfast one day for the princely sum of £1.45! We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Stayed at Dolphin House in November for one night for my wife's birthday. Paid for a deluxe 1 bed apartment, and Arabic massage deal including breakfast.. Everything was great, apartment nice and spacious, complimentary coffee facilities, mini kitchen with fridge, utensils, microwave and even milk in the fridge.

Breakfast was good, full English, but choice of continental, eggs benedict etc etc. nice and fresh and just right.

All in all, would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed five nights at Dolphin House apartments in Pimlico, London. We booked a deluxe one-bedroom apartment and, as our flight arrived early in the morning, we paid for an extra night to ensure we could check in when we arrived at the hotel at 7am. Although I had requested at the time of booking a south-facing (and therefore sunny) apartment overlooking the central, private gardens we were unfortunately given one facing the street outside. While this meant not as nice an outlook, as well as no direct sun, it didn't actually equate to much noise as the street is a quiet one opposite a school. The solid, old building housing the apartments was built in the 1930s as accommodation for ministers and public servants working at nearby Westminister. Three sides of the complex are private apartments; only those at the Chichester St end are serviced, short-term lettings. Our bathroom and kitchen had recently been renovated, and were reasonably well appointed (though there were few toiletries and no robes or tissues). It was great to have a washing machine and also a separate living room in a city where hotel rooms are generally on the small and expensive side. Breakfast was included in our room rate and is served in the small bistro overlooking the heated, indoor pool and gym area. There is also a very nice beauty spa on site for a relaxing post-23hour flight massage. The nearby Pimlico tube station is only about a 5 minute walk away, and the Tate gallery is about a 15-minute walk along the river. There aren't a lot of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, however Chelsea is only a short cab ride away. The Chelsea Physic garden is a delight - especially during the warmer months.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are sunnier and face onto the lovely central and private gardens within the...

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. The Dolphin house continues to be the best value accommodation, a place to unwind and relax. The swimming pool and spa facilities are great and the service was excellent. The apartments are huge in size, a pleasant change from most places in London. The bed was comfy and the tv had enough channels to keep me entertained until I nodded off. Piccadilly and Leicester square are only a few stops away so location is ideal.
The reason I chose the Dolphin was the leisure facilities. 4 star, with swimming pool in central London- £109 ..... Bargain.
I therefore unreservedly recommend the Dolphin.

Little bit of confusion between Dolphin House & Dolphin Square but it is all in the same complex. Looks a little ordinary from the outside but it’s a very large complex in a wonderfully quiet area of London only 2 or 3 mins walk from Pimlico Underground or 10 mins walk to Victoria Station. Plenty of buses in nearby streets too.
My last trip to London I stayed adjacent to Victoria Station & was concerned this may be too far out of the way. No it wasn’t. I don’t normally opt for accommodation that is a 10 min walk from transport, so the fact that the Pimlico Underground is very close made this a great choice. Pimlico is just one stop further on than Victoria Station on the Victoria Line (light blue) & it passes thru Oxford Circus, so getting to shops in Oxford St was a breeze! Change at Oxford Circus for the Central Line (red) to head (west)to Shepherd’s Bush or (east) to Stratford & you can shop undercover in one of the large Westfield Shopping Centres. Very simple to get around from the Dolphin.
Ask at reception & they will point you in the direction of 2 close supermarkets but there is also a small shopping arcade in the Dolphin Arcade. There is a school across the street & the side streets seem to be residential, so no noise at night. There are restaurants in walking distance too. Judging from the cars parked in the streets the neighbourhood must be a little ‘up market’ which makes you feel very safe walking from the tube station at night.
The Dolphin has a laundry in the basement for guests to use free of charge.
Wifi was free in our room & worked well.
The staff were extremely helpful. Our first apartment had heating issues (none!) so they promptly sent up an electric fan heater. We were given the choice of staying or moving to another apartment.
This 1 bedroom apartment had a ‘kitchenette’ which means a microwave, fridge & sink….not even a toaster! The bedroom & separate lounge were both large & the bathroom huge!! We opted in the morning to change rooms as it was cold.
The 2nd apartment had an even larger lounge with a full kitchen. The lounge had a sofa, coffee table, writing desk & chair as well as table with 2 chairs & TV. In the entrance there was a double closet for hanging clothes with a safe & iron/ironing board. The bedroom was a little smaller, but still a good size with plenty of storage (chest of drawers, closet & writing desk with chair). Only drawbacks were no tv in bedroom (only in lounge – the 1st room had both) & smaller bathroom but it was more along the lines of a standard hotel bathroom. We were more than comfortable & enjoyed the opportunity to ‘spread out’ after 5 weeks of hotel rooms! This was a corner room & we were told these are larger.
When booking (direct) online, we were offered a discounted rate at the Dolphin Spa. Soooo glad we took up the deal. THE best day spa I have been to! Wish I had taken my camera with me when I went for my massage!!! The décor is superb & the treatment 1st class. If you have time to spare you must treat yourself to something while here.
This is a great location & we opted for it as it was cheaper than many hotels we had looked at. The decor in the reception & hallways is of an expensive hotel & the rooms don't dissapoint either.
This will now be my place to stay in London!

Room Tip: Book early for better deals....we pre paid. Corner rooms are bigger.

We booked a one bedroom apartment for a brief one night stay.
Check-in was smooth, we were given a 6th floor apartment. On walking in the door there was a wide hallway with kitchenette straight ahead, which was equipped with all you could possibly need in a small space (sink, fridge, microwave and all crockery/utensils/cutlery needed). There was tea, coffee etc, kettle and milk in the fridge, along with a nice bottle of cold water.
To the left in the hall was the bedroom and to the right two doors, one the bathroom and one the lounge.
The bedroom was a nice size, large wardrobe (iron and board in there), dressing table with mirror, chest of drawers, tv/sky and a massive comfy bed.
Bathroom was pretty big too, bath with shower over it, double sink and all the usual toiletries.
Lounge was plain, but in a nice way, with adequate seating for comfort and dining, with tv/sky.
We cannot fault the apartment, but the only thing I would say is it's a bit inconvenient that the restaurant stops serving breakfast half an hour before check-out, I think they would enjoy a lot more business if it was half an hour after, I know we were looking for a late one at 11am, but I am sure there is a market for it. Luckily we were previously locals and knew of the greasy spoon just up Tachbrook Street near the tube. It's a bit of a workies haunt, but if you can see past that it does an excellent breakfast with tea or coffee for under a fiver. So if you're hungry and don't mind the surroundings give it a go. If you want a famous breakfast with slightly more pleasant surroundings and don't mind the 10-15 minute walk, go up Regency Street to the famous Regency Caf. If you're an early riser, I've always enjoyed the Dolphin Grill food in the past.
We didn't use the gym, but as an ex-member when I was a local, I would definitely recommend a swim or a spin class, really friendly small team in there.
We will definitely stay at Dolphin again, I love Pimlico and it is so handy for everywhere, the bus routes are great and the tube is on the Victoria line. We plan on staying longer next time, and as you'll see from their website, the earlier you book the cheaper it is.
What I would say is if you love the whole hotel experience such as room service etc, this is probably not the place for you. But if you are looking for somewhere that's home from home, this is the place for you.

Just back from a two night stay at the Dolphin House Apartments .
This place is a real find. The accommodation was as good as any 4/5 star hotel and a special mention needs to be made regarding the service we received, it was excellent with friendly and helpful staff ( with a special mention for the gentleman in charge of the car park who, when realising my mobility was somewhat impaired ensured we got parked somewhere with easy access to our room ).
The restaurant was fine with reasonable prices and an excellent breakfast.
Location is great and overall it is a location we would highly recommend.
