I would not say we were regular premier inn customers, however we always use premier inn when we need a UK hotel for short breaks, airport stopovers, concerts etc, we have stayed in this hotel before and it was great, so we booked again, this time however it was a bit disappointing .
When we arrived, despite having booked and paid months in advance, the guy on reception seemed confused when checking our reservation, when he asked for our name he could tell me our booking details but there seemed to be a lot of scratching of heads and calling on other staff members before we could check in.
Once we were checked in we got our room keys, when we arrived at our room we found we had been given slot type cards and the room had a new ‘contact less’ type lock, we went back to reception and someone let us in to the room using a master key, then disappeared, we then had to go back to get a card to switch on electricity, eventually a guy came with our cards and made sure they worked.
We went out for the evening and when we returned at night both cards would not work, back to reception where they gave us new ones, next day we went out and returned around 4 pm, again both keys would not work, we got new ones, we got in ok when we returned but next day again around 4 pm they would not work again, it seems they had new locks fitted and they only went live the day we arrived and were having teething problems, this is not good enough they should be fool proof before going live.
Our room as usual was great large clean etc, we then noticed that the bed for our daughter was not made up nor was there linen for us to make it, also there was only enough towels for 2 people, again off to reception to get this sorted, it was sorted however for the rest of the stay we still only got 2 towels.
There is a personal safety deposit box in the room which is great however when we went to pay our £1,50 per day we were told that they were not operational due to the change over, they offered to store our valuables in the staff safe free of charge but we declined as we use the safe for ‘desirables’ rather than actual valuables.
Our room also had a flashing light on one side of the bathroom mirror, we never complained about this as it was getting a bit embarrassing having to constantly go to reception, however house keeping should have reported this.
To be fair on the final time we had to get our key card changed we were given a complimentary breakfast which was a nice gesture, however when we went for breakfast our room was not on the list and we had to tell them it was complimentary.
These problems made our stay a little disappointing but it is still a good hotel.

Room Tip: our room was on ground floor and you could hear the underground when they started up in the morning...

Stayed here Friday night after travelling down from Glasgow for weekend. Contacted hotel in advance to see if could check in at midday rather than 2pm and hotel had no issue with this, which was excellent as allowed me to get in a quick nap after a 4.30am start to the day.

Location is excellent, Central Line goes right to Towerhill but can also get Northern line to Bank then either walk 15 mins or change to Central at Bank. Close to Shoreditch for nightlife, bars and restaurant and right beside one of main London attractions Tower Of London.

Able to do boat trips from the Pier and lots of bus's around area too. Room was really big and spacious for a double room, bigger than most budget hotels I have stayed in. Spotless clean and was no noise from outside as our room looked out to side of church so was not directly above the street. Great wee pub the Minories just round the corner which is worth visiting for lunch or breakfast. Overall a great stay and would stay here again if back in London.

Have just come back from staying here at Premier Inn Tower Hill, very friendly staff, rooms are lovely and big also the bathrooms and yes the beds are really lovely and comfy ( as Lenny says). My friend and I did go the long way round to find it but then realised we was only 5 mins away from tube station and the Tower Of London . It was a turn left out the station over the road past the Minories pub past Tavel lodge over the traffic light and there was the Premier Inn also Wetherspoons just across the road couldn't have been better and breakfast was smashing as well all you can eat (extra charge) but worth it and lovely staff in the restuarant

Room Tip: We had a room with the train going by but didn't disturb us

really clean hotel, more than expected, excellent price, brilliant staff, will be staying there again and recommending it to friends. Had a great weekend, even after we checked out the service was still evident, we felt like valued customers.

Stayed one night last week (the night of the 4th July). It's in an excellent location just near Tower Bridge. Nearest tube I think is Tower Hill about five minutes walk away. Wetherspoons just across the road - always a bonus!
Excellent friendly staff at check in - please pass on my compliments to all three gents. Very friendly and down to earth. Room was typical Premier Inn - spotlessly clean with, as always, a very comfy bed. Bonus in this place was that the room had air con! Which is always a massive bonus for me, especially on a hot and humid night. There is a bar on site, didn't eat there so not sure of what you can get food wise. Nice bar man working that evening - very friendly, even when we were taking the mickey out of his poorly leg. All in all excellent staff, clean room and great location. I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed a lot in Premier Inn in the past but this hotel experience was well below the standard of previous stays (in other branches of Premier Inn).
When I checked in there were two people on the reception desk, one on the phone and one asleep. When I caught the eye of the woman on the phone and indicated the guy asleep next to her she looked over at him and grinned.
My room had a stained and dirty carpet (although bed linen was fresh and clean) and I've just had breakfast where the scrambled egg was stone cold.
Premier Inn simplifies and reduces the price of a hotel stay but it has to get the smaller number of services it does offer right - my previous experience has been that it does - but not here on this stay.
Standards are slipping.
