This is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in Ancient Egypt. Located on the UCL campus next to their science library and literally across the street and half a minute away from the on-campus Waterstones/Fopp. It is also less then 10 mins walk from Euston station. What it lacks in size (it could be whizzed round in an hour if you so wish, or don't have much time) it makes up for in content. Some simply wonderful exhibits in an extremely important museum named after a trailblazing scientist who worked in the field until he was 87 years old! I loved some of the 4500 year old plus dresses and textiles on display, exquisite collections of shabti's, jewellery, pottery, bronze, and simply beautiful paintings of faces from the lids of sarcophogi. Open from 1pm-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and staffed by warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable staff. Recommended.

I only found out about this place because of the Bloomsbury Festival -so thanks guys. If you think of Egyptology in London you tend to think of the British Museum and rightly so, it is impressive.

However, if the British Museum does things on things on the macro scale, this museum does them on the micro. Loads of pots, inscriptions, statuettes, jewellery, shoes - everything that gives you an idea of what life was like for the average Egyptian.

The stone tablets that still have some colour left are incredible. In fact everything about it is amazing. The jewellery is the kind of stuff you see on sale at Camden Lock - there really is nothing new under the sun.

So, not a mummy in sight, but still a remarkable glimpse into a lost civilisation that helped shape us all.

This is a proper museum, rows of glass cabinets with tens of thousands of artefacts. If you love Egyptian history or looking to visit somewhere different, do go here. Take a tour with some of the fantastic student staffers. Great for unusual first date! Also free entry,

The zoology museum open mon-fri, this museum open tue- sat. Since I came by this area to visit the zoology museum on mon. So unlucky, I could not visit this museum. It seems that it is better to visit this area tue to fri, so that one can visit both museum.

So, this is a real old-school museum, with glass cases jam-packed with artifacts. I think you probably have to really love museums and/or Egypt to get much out of it, but if you *do* love museums or Egypt, you're in for a treat! The students who staffed the museum were lovely and enthusiastic, and the collection is impressive (though a bit difficult to get your head around). Don't plan on spending a long time here unless there's something particular you want to geek out about, but it's great for a quick visit (or paired with one or more of the other museums in the UCL area).

Some of the displays are actually in the stairwell, so you will miss out a bit if you can't navigate stairs - unfortunate!
