“London Boat Show”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Booking: Always book in advance: there are often better prices than on the door, plus you walk straight in. (You can leave and go back in- get a wristband on leaving)
ExCel: Central "Mall" has loads of fast food outlets, gets predictably busy at midday. Several speciallist food places, and a couple of "Railway Station" sandwich & drinks places. Toilet facilities at intervals along the mall, generally very clean.
You can leave coats etc in downstairs cloakroom. £!:00 per item. (The show is quite warm, heavy clothing spoils the day)
The show itself is a big showcase for boating related interests; from multimillion pound powerboats to rowing dinghies, and a lot of equipment manufacturers, and general chandlery stands. Mainly enthusiastic men with less enthusiastic women in tow. A great day out for the sailor; knowlegable experts in all areas. The "Tullett Prebon Boat Show" website has full details.

“Where were the yachts?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Good access from M11,despite the dire warnings from the MET office. Parking is excellent but a bit expensive. The halls were full of stands, lots of shiney gin palaces but not many sailing yachts. I guess the show is moving with the times and now has more bicycles than boats on display.
The catering in one the waterfront restaurants was grim, overcooked and expensive with very little choice of food. Attendances seemed high on the Saturday and business looked good on the bits and pieces stands.

“Best Boat Show ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

We'd been to the Boat Show at Earls Court many times and this was really good in comparison. Light and airy, easy to get round. As part of the centre is the Concourse with lots of seating, eating and drinking, tea coffee etc. Boat Show provided 'pass outs' so we could come a go (we even could have gone back to our hotel - Ibis Styles) Centre is a bit of a way from central London but DLR is quick and delivers you to Customs House very easily - also walking distance from the Emirates Airline cable car from south of the Thames.

“World-Class sporting venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

I know, I'm a few months too late in this review and it should've been done during the London Olympics at it's peak, not right after it. But hindsight is a good thing, and looking back, I still have a lot of good memories of my time there. I am from Australia and had bought tickets to a few sports (freestyle wrestling, fencing, judo, taekwondo) that are held in ExCeL, so when I got there, from using the tube (which is awesome BTW), to getting through security and actually entering the venue, finding different sports locations and watching the best athletes in the world, I felt honoured to have witnessed plenty. I was a little caught up in the Olympic fever that I didn't really take notice of the facilities, but it was great. Maybe the volunteers were the difference and not the venue itself? Anyway, the ExCeL Centre is great.
