“Re located from Grange Clarendon Bedford place”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We arrived at the Clarendon at 2 pm tobe greeted by staff with limited understanding of English and the English culture. We were told that we couldn't stay at the Clarendon because of a technical problem - no further explanation offered. The lady said we are moving you to a five star hotel it is very nice with a spa. We asked why they hadn't called us earlier to tell us so that we could have brought costumes with us. She told us not to worry we could probably borrow costumes - hmm!
We chose this hotel because of the location as I was on business the following day 100 metres away. However we agreed to move and a taxi was called. When we got to the Grange the taxi driver asked us for £10 we told him the hotel would be paying but he had not been told. He had to go into the hotel and request the money off the receptionist. Could have been unpleasant me thinks. Negatives out the way lets talk about the Grange.
Hotel and location - excellent. Room very good, breakfast superb. Couldn't keep curtains open if you wanted privacy as we were facing an office block only about 10 metres away. The only downside was the bed - IT WAS ROCK HARD !! We hardly slept. Who likes the mattress rock hard??
Overall we had a good stay and the location is great and it's a really nice hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing St Pauls and not facing the office block.

I've been here to attend a converence and i haven't used any of the complimentary services the hotel is offering. The rooms are well sized and, while the building is quite unusual i liked it.
The continental breakfast is huge, but i haven't tasted it as it's not kosher.
The best part of the hotel is the location, right in the hearth of the city, you just need to exit the main entrance to be in front of St. Paul churc and to traverse the millenium bridge.
Could be not the cheapest choice, but it's worth the price

Room Tip: The inner rooms, overlooking the breakfast area are the quitest BUT you'll have to keep the blin...

Strange layout inside but I presume this is something to do with the original building that they converted. As you go in there is a huge pillar which again is probably to do with the structure of the building, however they have covered it with lights like Piccadilly circus which cheapens the whole hotel.inner rooms aren't very private and could do with opaque glass or something better than a blind that makes the room very dark. The rest of the hotel is beautiful and the pool/spa etc is really nice.Altogether for the price I would recommend it.They just need to take the lights off the pillar, think of something better than a blind and get some staff who can speak or even understand you when you ask for something.Could be perfect with a little change here and there

Room Tip: Get a room that looks outside and not an inner room

Location great, comfortable beds, nice toiletries, great views from roof terrace, continental breakfast average, helpful staff. This is a great place to stay if you want a central city location within walking distance of some of the city's best landmarks. Shops, bars and restaurants on the door step too.

I knew the location was good from looking at the map, but it turned out to be even better. St. Paul's is just across the road. The Museum of London, the Tate Modern and The Globe are all within easy walking distance. The buses going to Trafalger Square are a few steps away, and the Blackfriars and St. Paul's tube stations are a 5 minute walk. The hotel itself is very good, but IMHO doesn't quite live up to its 5 star rating. I would give it a 4 1/2. In particular I expected the rooms to be a little bigger. Also depending on the location, it can be a little noisy, but fortunately we had a room at the back of the main building, which is separated from the main hall by a big glass wall.

Great location and well appointed room, with self-catering facilities if needed.

Quite hi-tech, which was lost on me!
The lights were particularly rocket-science-esque!

The staff were excellent and really looked after me during my three day stay - would definitely go back.

The hotel is close to St Pauls and has a great leisure club with a large pool too. Rooms are well very equipped . I stayed in a room in a nearby builiding billed as a suite with microwave, fridge, crockery so you didn't to eat out every meal especially as Pret, Eat and M and S Food are all close by
