“Consistently Very High Standards”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

I've stayed at this hotel, probably eight or nine times in the past 24 months. My most recent visit was one month ago - when, having to book at the last moment, I used a hotel finder and this popped up as top of the list. I was pleased to see it there!

Check-in on this occasion was far from expedient - in point of fact, it took over 15 minutes, owing to a particularly large queue and a shortage, it seemed, of people at the check-in-desks. My reservation took some time to locate, owing to the fact that they had confused my given name with my surname. Still, once this was ironed out, I was given a top-floor room facing the inner courtyard space of the hotel.

The rooms are very well appointed, and indeed, very tastefully decorated. The beds, whilst very comfortable, are also extremely supportive, which made for an excellent nights's sleep. Though I wouldn't describe the morning's breakfast as being outstanding, it is, nonetheless, very good, and given that it was included in the rate, it represented good value.

All things considered, an excellent venue for an evening or more. Always a pleasure.

This is a modern and fairly new hotel right next to St Paul's Cathedral and this is both an asset and a hindrance. The Cathedral is well worth visiting although expensive at £16 per adult but also in the area there is Tate Modern which is amazing if you like modern art. However it is the city of London which is principally a business centre not a tourist orientated locality.
Reception was polite, efficient and quick. The room, a superior double, is 'compact' with little wasted space. We had an internally facing room which was quiet but a bit sterile. It is sad that in a modern hotel the air conditioning which you need even in October is noisy and relatively ineffective. I have no idea how it works in high summer but it is not good even in Autumn. The bathroom and fittings were fine and very average for London.
Breakfast was poor, coffee vile and mostly tepid, tasteless bread rolls and unripe fresh fruit. Service very friendly and numerous but English is not the first language with resulting difficulties.
The bar was empty and soulless with a waitress who had real problems with the order as she appeared unable to speak English. Surely asking for a lager is not that unusual!
In summary if you need to stay in this area it will be fine but other parts of London have more going on.

I stayed at this hotel a couple of times before and it was fine. However, this was my first visit in a couple if years and standards have slipped somewhat.

The room was what you would expect for £250 per night in London, small but comfortable. However, it was dirty and the bath tub was broken. The bath had the previous occupants hair in it, the floor wasn't vacuumed and there was even rubbish under the desk on the floor.

I was only staying 1 night and only stayed in the room for about 10 hours in total so it wasn't worth changing.

Avoid room 333 if you can unless you like a view of a scene from the film Bladerunner. It was facing the courtyard and there is a massive advertising screen meaning you have to keep the curtains closed all the time. Best avoided.

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip. A very nice, plush hotel in a great location but very expensive circa £300 per night.
My room was good and everything worked, bars comfortable and the gym and pool were ok. Service was good.
Only had breakfast which was acceptable but not special or different and this sums up this hotel for me.
It lacks ambience and it is simply not special enough for me to consider spending my own money to stay.

Found via lastminute "Secret Hotels" and a real gem!

We wanted an Hotel close to The City and not too far from Sadlers Wells as we were seeing West Side Story (fantastic performance by the way!). This turned out to be a great find, stylish, modern and the staff were all very friendly. Parking is an issue however, we discovered that about 2 minutes walk away there is an underground car park beneath Baynard House in Queen Victoria Street, London, EC4V 4BQ owned by the Corporation of London - what a bargain - after 1330 on a Saturday, you can park until 11am Sunday for the very reasonable £2.50!! Avoid the NCP with is £33.00 per day and 10 minutes walk!

The hotel itself is relatively new and from the outside, looks more like an office building however, the large door and smartly dressed door staff immediately suggest its style and luxury. The reception was very well manned and check in was a breeze. The inner atrium is huge with rooms facing inwards although there are rooms with views across London towards the Thames which is where our room was situated. The rooms themselves are spacious and well equipped with a mini bar (expensive!), a large and luxurious en suite; the beds are extremely comfortable. My only criticism would be the signage - its appalling and took us a very frustrating, 10 minutes to find our room so I would agree with other reviewers that this could be rectified. Niggles aside, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

location great, right by st pauls, handy for tube etc. stayed on a friday night, given an apartment in the new building around the corner, swimming pool great, reception and staff need a bit more training, i asked the concierge in the apartment building where to have breakfast and she was absolutely clueless. a 2 min walk around the hotel and there were a good half a dozen places she could have suggested...

Stayed one night after a trip to the theatre - got a cheap room rate from last minute!
Check-in easy and professional; room clean and spacious. expensive bar prices but expected this due to location.
Would definitely stay again!
Didn't eat at the hotel, loads of restaurants and cafés near by which had reasonably priced menus.
