This hotel is well located. The room was ok, if a little small. The in room menu is very limited however, the food was ok and was warm when it arrived 20 mins later. I did not go to breakfast however, the business lunch was alright.

If I was paying I would find somewhere else.

Stayed for 2 nights on business in Nov, a late booking, so about £95/ night for B+B, on a government rate. Handy for the A1, but there were big queues in the morning southbound, so ended up going through Borehamwood-much quicker. Reception staff were OK, had a problem with the door card which was sorted out. The rooms upstairs were up a flight of stairs before you double back on yourself, which makes finding the room a bit strange. The room was standard, however, I was given 2 twin beds, not brilliant for a 6 footer+, they said they had no large beds left. Nice large room TV iron etc, large bathroom, a bit tatty around the shower fitting. Shame about the coffee in the room, a cheap brand that tasted awful, for the price can't they do nescafe sachets? Works for Travelodge etc. The breakfast was pretty good, a full selection of hot and cold. Didn't eat in the restaurant though. The sports facility was pretty good, open until 2200 with a reasonable selection of machines. The pool is more for dipping in, not for lengths, but has a jacuzzi attached. Also a sauna completes the sports side - all part of the rate. I have stayed at other hotels where you have to pay for gym, so was impressed by that part. Overall a good hotel, easily accessible if not a bit pricey, but then its near to London

Well I only stayed here as my first choice (Hilton Watford) was fully booked.

I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn before, what can i say it's a budget 3 star and I wouldn't return by choice. Reception was weird, strange staff who can't make the art of polite conversation and are remarkably slow. Bar area etc looks ok, been refurbished I guess.

My room was in their 'mezzanine' floor. I'm not sure why they use that term basically the extension out the back. Didn't like it, all of a sudden you leave the main hotel and spot different carpet, then an old musty smell. Room had same odour. It was really small and dark. Cheap toiletries, average bed.

Breakfast next morning, entirely help yourself even the drinks. Basic buffet bit like Jury's Inn. And checkout was worse than check in, where do they get their staff?

All in all......if you get a cheap deal and like 3 star fair enough. NOt worth the normal rates it charges, and I wouldn't venture back. Bring on the Hilton, love it.

Have just returned after a 2 night stay.
The HI is excellent for the A1, both getting into and out of the hotel from the main road is a doddle.
Having not stayed in a Holiday Inn prior to this I was expecting a fairly basic budget estalishment but this was not the case. Theres a very nice bar and a great lounge just further down the hallway-rooms are off this in two wings but on only 2 floors above. Not being full, there were no problems at all with getting the lift when we wanted.
Decent size room with all youd expect including a free room safe and free remote. Iron/ironing board are supplied as is the essential (for me) tea/coffee making facilities.
Room was well maintained and serviced, air con was a little ineffective though. Connections existed for both UK and US internet connection plugs.
Check in and out was speedy and efficient - a late check out facility after the 10am deadline is available at £10 per hr.
As for the health club, absolutely top marks all round. Large, well equipped gym and nice pool area plus spick and span changing rooms/towels and free lockers, free chilled water, decent staff (and other guests) etc - what more do you want ?
Breakfast was up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
The location is in a nice tidy area of town but a good 1/2 hr walk from Borehamwood main street (a taxi via the free reception phone was 4 quid and arrived in 10 mins). Railway station is at the top of this street with links into Kings X Thameslink ( be careful you get the right train back as some dont stop here but go straight to St Albans). Tip : theres a great buffet at the Chinese Garden in Borehamwood- £9.
As another poster has said the hotel bar was a bit pricey - that and the air con were the only possible minor whinges for us.
Stay again ? without a doubt !
Im happy to verify my comments if you want.

Go to this hotel on business periodically, and it is fine. Breakfast is great, room service pretty good too, meaning food is hot which is not always the case. Gym is small but adequate outside peak times and rooms are large enough, and definitely clean. Pool is only half sized so disappointing, but genereally it's fine.
