After waiting for what seemed like a lifetime, time finally came to go to Winter Wonderland!!!
Yes it is massively expensive for the attractions, food, drink & rides but you seriously can not put a price on the atmosphere.
The moment you walk through the gate you can feel the vibrancy & excitement of the place, it just gets you! We went on a Saturday & the place was packed, but didn't feel too rushed or cramped.
We had pre-booked the Ice Kingdom & the Circus as recommended beforehand. Not overly impressed with the Ice Kingdom. The sculptures were amazing but just felt like there was something lacking & not great value for money. It will probably be one we miss for next year. The circus on the other hand was AMAZING!!!! I could have quite easily gone back in again. It was a relief to get out of the evening chilliness for a while but the show was first class entertainment. I will be looking for tickets to see Cirque Berzerk again, they were fab!
You are really spoiled for choice with food and drink, anything you fancy & it's there. Yes it is very pricey but for a once a year treat just go for it.
The Bavarian Pub/Bar is massive & the live entertainment really is so much fun. Watching everyone gathered together having a laugh is priceless.
I have taken away so many memories of Winter Wonderland & really cant wait till next year!!!

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is the most magical place I have ever been to in the UK. The atmosphere is lovely and warm so the perfect way to start your Christmas build up.

Admission to the park is free but you will need to buy a ticket for some of the attractions:

Lyca Mobile Ice Rink
Magical Ice Kingdom
Giant Wheel
Zippo's Christmas Circus
Cirque Beserk
Bar Ice

There are plenty of different methods of transport to get to Hyde Park but they recommend using the following stops on the tube:

Green Park (Victoria, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines)
Marble Arch (Central line)
Edgware Road (Bakerloo line)
Bond Street (Central and Jubilee lines)
Victoria (Victoria, District & Circle lines and National Rail)

The amount of time which I would say you can spend at this attraction is an average of 3-6 hours depending on what you do. We didn't go on any of the attractions but spent some time in the Bavarian Beer Hall and we were at Winter Wonderland for 3 hours.

Winter Wonderland is open from now until 4th January 2015 (excluding Christmas Day) so you still have plenty of time to plan an adventure.

We went on a Saturday afternoon. Not the best time, perhaps, but when you have kids visiting from out of London, you don't get the choice of going on a weekday. We had tickets booked for the Ice Kingdom at 6:30pm (the earliest we could get) and turned up at 4:30, figuring we could look at the stalls, get some snacks, go on a few rides...

It was horrible. It was so packed in there, you couldn't wander about and browse. You just had to go with the flow of traffic and try to keep an eye on the kids so you didn't get separated and lost forever! We'd been to Hamley's earlier (another experience I will not be repeating) and it was just like the same. So many people you couldn't see a thing.

We left after 15 minutes, and didn't use our paid-for tickets. It simply wasn't worth waiting out a few hours in that awful, claustrophobic environment. The kids were so disappointed, they'd been looking forward to it so much! Winter Wonderland a few years ago was a lovely place! A victim of its own success, it seems. There were far too many people allowed in at once. So unpleasant, we'll never go back.

In fairness, if you have the option of going in the morning, it might still be nice.

We went on a family visit on Saturday with my son his partner and their 3 young children lots to see and do, although there were not many rides for younger children or anywhere to be able to let them maybe sit and have a little rest while going round.

Overall a good day out and well worth going at least once.

We queued for half an hour only to join an extremely overcrowded venue. We were a group of adults but I would not have wanted to have been there with young children, many of whom were clearly frightened. We had to queue for everything, and then got charged exorbitant prices for low quality food and drink. There were plenty of marshalls in evidence but it was simply too much for them to control. I dread to think what would have happened had there been an emergency. The organisers need to completely re-think this event.
