Classic British pub set in an affluent area of West London just off Bayswater Road. Sat outside and had a few beers from their impressive selection then decided to stay for a meal. Printed menu was a bit restrictive (unless you are an aficionado of sausages) but I confess I didn’t see the Specials board before I had ordered.
Anyway, chose the Cumberland Sausage with mash and gravy but before that sampled, for the first time in my life, a Scotch Egg starter (listed, in somewhat contradictory manner under the heading ‘English Tapas’.) What’s next, English Whisky? As William Wallace might have said, ‘you can take our lives, you can take our land..but you’ll never take our Scotch Eggs!’
All joking apart, spent a very pleasant afternoon in this fine ‘British’ tavern - kudos to the chef who served the meals personallya

Lovely pub, friendly manager and staff. We just happened upon it and went in for 1 drink and ended up staying for the evening and having our dinner there. All three of us enjoyed our food. Mix of locals and tourists. Close to Bayswater and Queensway tube stations. It was lovely and quiet with no loud music and no slot machines so we could chat easily. We felt it was well worth a stop in if you are in the area.

Usual Stonegate cask selection - St Austell, Pride, Landlord. Beer lacked a bit of condition but was OK. Nothing particularly wrong with it but it's not a place that you'd go out of your way for. Food looked cheaper than the beer, so I suspect it's microwaved.

This is a terrific London Pub with great food, service, and beers. They also have the premiere league games on if you are interested in watching (a lot of pubs do not show matches). Order the steak and ale or shepherds pie!

Stopped by for lunch, the bar man said that the kitchen is going to open in 10 mins.
A pint and half an hour later no sign.
Moved on.
Funny smell in the bar too.
Disappointed. It's Saturday afternoon in July. If you can't get it right on a sunny day, it doesn't bode well for another time.
Would not recommend.

We visited recently, on St. Patricks day actually, with children and grandchildren. The service was fast and the food very good. Particularly the sausages and cheesy mash. The room were a bit dated but that frankly added to the charm of the place. It was filled with very personable locals. We will be certain to visit again.
