The heritage of times gone by are very strong in the park. The site of the former Crystal Palace building is imposing and imparts a strong sense of lost past glory, it makes you wonder how and why a glass and iron building managed to catch fire and burn down. And why it was never re-built. It would have been such a monument to the Victorian achievements and still a massive attraction today. The BBC transmitter mast is an integral part of the experience and standing very close to the base the scale and height is overwhelming
