A great Victorian park, steeped in history.
Great views over London from the site of the old Crystal Palace at the top of the hill, guaranteed to tire you and the kids out by running up there.
Don't miss the Dinosaurs around the lake near the station, read the signs describing these historical monuments and their fascinating history.
There is a great kids playground where kids can have fun "discovering" dinosaur fossils in the sand pit and play on dinosaur themed apparatus.
Café has a great location but the food has always been pretty low quality (junk food, sugary drinks) so don't expect to get anything decent to eat there. It's OK in an emergency if the kids are starving or craving a sugar hit but other than that avoid it. Much better is the excellent variety of pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops in Crystal Palace at the top of the hill if you fancy a bite to eat and/or a pint.
Radio controlled car club are often racing their models on the track near the stadium, worth a look for "boys" of all ages.
Easiest to get there via Overground train to Crystal Palace or Penge West station. Check the local map in the station to see where you are. Numerous local buses terminate at the Bus station at the top of the park so that may be a good option for getting in or out. Arriving by bus also means you can walk downhill through the park which is easier and take the train when you get to the bottom. Car parking isn't a big problem except on really busy days, car parks on Thicket Ave or the end of Sydenham Ave.
