“Well worth a visit with the kids or to see the dinosaurs”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

A great Victorian park, steeped in history.

Great views over London from the site of the old Crystal Palace at the top of the hill, guaranteed to tire you and the kids out by running up there.

Don't miss the Dinosaurs around the lake near the station, read the signs describing these historical monuments and their fascinating history.

There is a great kids playground where kids can have fun "discovering" dinosaur fossils in the sand pit and play on dinosaur themed apparatus.

Café has a great location but the food has always been pretty low quality (junk food, sugary drinks) so don't expect to get anything decent to eat there. It's OK in an emergency if the kids are starving or craving a sugar hit but other than that avoid it. Much better is the excellent variety of pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops in Crystal Palace at the top of the hill if you fancy a bite to eat and/or a pint.

Radio controlled car club are often racing their models on the track near the stadium, worth a look for "boys" of all ages.

Easiest to get there via Overground train to Crystal Palace or Penge West station. Check the local map in the station to see where you are. Numerous local buses terminate at the Bus station at the top of the park so that may be a good option for getting in or out. Arriving by bus also means you can walk downhill through the park which is easier and take the train when you get to the bottom. Car parking isn't a big problem except on really busy days, car parks on Thicket Ave or the end of Sydenham Ave.

“Just a walk in the park”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

To walk where once stood a vast glass palace and now just see the footings of it seems uncomprehensible. Still, left behind are remnants, some hidden of the beauty that was once beholden to this beautiful place. I love going there when l can and being a keen photographer, getting lost with my imagination. Statues standing staunch still guarding and looking over what was. The dinosaurs furthur down in the actual park are kept well and still l get a blast on seeing them. In the gardens it is wonderful to walk and wonder what is around the next corner. I say 'Yes to going an afternoon roam there and just walk and wonder as to what it was once like - ignore the here and now. Think outside your boxes!

“My favourite park in London”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Living close by, I suppose I am slightly biased, however I love Crystal Palace Park and have done since I was very young. There's a maze which is as much fun now as it was when I was little, and the dinosaurs around the lake are still a great attraction. The fireworks are great too!

I do wish they would put more music events on the stage like they used to, but you can't have everything!

“Dinosaurs, trails, greenery”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Lots of trails to walk on, a nice lake where you can hire boats in good weather, and of course the dinosaurs! There's a nice play park for the little ones, and a cafe in the centre of the park. Lots of pubs and shops in Crystal Palace for after your walk.

“Lovely walk”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Lovely park to stroll around has such a sense of Victorian living - with a bit of 1960's thrown into the centre.
