“Beds comfortable, no space at breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

I was there for 2 nights with 2 sisters and a toddler aged 2. The room consists of 2 double beds and is ensuite. The beds were comfortable . The cups that they give you for tea/coffee were bigger then you'd get in most places. Some of the staff were nice, others weren't.
We did have 2 problems with the hotel. The first is that the breakfast room is small, there isn't enough tables when the hotel is full. They also ran out of cereal on the second day. The second problem we had was with the temperature of the water in the shower. On the first day, it was going from lukewarm to scalding. On the second day, it was freezing. We mentioned it to to the girl on reception but she said that there was probably too many people using it but we could try the shared bathroom upstairs if we wanted. Overall, the hotel is ok but you wouldn't want to be there for more than a night or two.

Do not book this hotel unless it is desperately your last and only choice. When we checked in, we were told that our room is on the fourth floor of another building. So we dragged six of our heavy suitcases to the building. When we entered, there wasn't a lift and we had to carried 25kg + bags up more than four flight of stairs ( I will tell you more about this later). When we arrived at the third floor, drenched in sweat, the receptionist who was supposed to show our room said "here's your room." and she just stood there instead of actually showing us the room. We walked around other hotels nearby that uses the same building formats, and the majority of them has lifts.

When we walk into the room, we saw another flight of stairs with no lighting at all. So we had to carry those bags for five floors. When we finally entered the room, it looks okay at first. But soon, we started to see problems. The oven did not work, unclean cutlery, missing amenties in the "kitchen area." The bathroom was as bad as the kitchen, the handle of the shower door appeared to be missing. Plus, the water heating system has two options: Fiery hell and Alaskan winter. It takes nearly half and hour to try to get the water to the right temperature. The hot water was so hot that steam was coming out, this is a potential burn hazard. Moreover, the faucet of the shower was backwards. I had to turn to cold to get hot, and vice versa. I also have to push the faucet inwards to turn the water on. Moreover, there were excess use of halogen lamps that unnecessarily heated up the bathroom. Combined with the low ceiling, tall people should be careful as they might hit the heated lamps. Moreover, there is, for some reason, a stepladder in front of the bathroom. It looks old and is definitely not for decorative purposes.

Now, the bedroom. The "master bedroom" has a (smaller than average) queen sized bed that is placed against a wall, with a door on it. And the other bedroom is supposedly a "four person" bedroom, however, it is more of a two person bedroom, but they just crammed four twin beds into it. It was difficult to move around the room.

To conclude, just avoid this hotel at all costs, unless it is your very last and only choice, or you want to experience hell. A Novotel nearby which also has free-wifi (that is not wonky), a larger, less cramped, and more modern room, with cleaner room is actually cheaper than this rat hole.

Firstly I'd like to say how lovely the reception staff were. Location was also a benefit, Central London near to tube stations and many restaurants and shops. I'm not too sure wether we were unfortunate however with the room in which we had the misfortune in staying in. Yes there was a bed and comfy enough but the toilet and shower were less than satisfactory. Literally I'd say this room was thrown together to get an extra £100 per night NOT WORTH IT!!!

Room Tip: Not room 21

First of all, the staff are all very nice. The problem was the room. The bathroom was not only shabby, but smelly (drain) and with a shower that was downright dangerous. Extremely hot water - hard to regulate, so beware of letting children in there on their own. Tiles were broken, chips in toilet seat, crack in sink, peeling paint and stained carpets. The window was really hard to open (took 2 of us standing on the bed!) and also not very clean. We spent 5 weeks traveling Europe and this was the only hotel that we found below standard. I took several photos which I will try and upload. Lights in room are fluorescent - we borrowed a bedside lamp to lessen the glare. No hairdrier either.

Room Tip: If you do choose to stay there, be aware that there is no elevator and there are 42 stairs to the se...

DO NOT BOOK. We accidentally booked one night short and were stuck. Given the location of this place we thought 1 night couldn't be too bad. It was. We first booked the quad room (as it was the only one available when we booked online) when we called to see if they had any other rooms we were told to call back in 15 mins as he was about to finish his shift. We checked in and the quad room was probably once the cleaners quarters (located behind the pokey reception in a musty smelling corridor). I asked if they had any more rooms and the teenager working on reception explained the only room available was a suite. How bad could that be? We relocated. Up 5 flights of stairs with 2 X 25kg suitcases (no 'can I help') and we arrive at the door to our suite with a piece of paper sticky-taped above the door saying 'Suite 10'. It was comical how bad this place is. The living room was furnished with a pink fur rug and a couch that was likely picked up on collection day. Kitchen smelt awful. Bathroom was dirty and musty. Bed was ok. All in all, we would not recommend. Would never stay again. And regret spending more that 5 minutes there on our honeymoon.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and we found the rate very reasonable. Besides the place is very ideal for someone who wants to explore London for the first time. The staff at the reception are exceptionally courteous and very helpful. Special mention to Da Sha Qurant, she is such a sweet person- she showed us the perfect route and printout so we do not get lost taking the bus or the train. Same goes with Sergio who assisted us on last minute booking.

Yola from the dining room is very friendly and accommodating. Can't complain about the food because I did not expect breakfast like in a 5* hotel with a 5* price.

I would highly recommend to my friends and family.

I have been staying at this hotel for the past 4 weeks and have found it to be perfect for the area in price and location.there is great access to various amenities. the rooms are always clean and presentable and the staff could not be more helpful. I will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: room 20 is the Quietest I have found in the hotel
