“Well placed Hotel”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

The Hotel is very well located, A few blocks from Subway and few meters from bus station. The staff is kind. The room is big enough but the only withdraw is the bathroom. We had problem with the boiler and the sink has a terrible stink. We had to close the sink with paper every time we left the room because in the opposite the room was discusting when we returned back. This was reported to front door man.

Paid £65 for a one night stay in a double room INCL a cooked breakfast. This is about as cheap as you can get for a decent nights stay in central London in a good area at fairly short notice.
Forget how many stars it says it has - these are facts as experienced by me:
Great location. 5 min walk from Euston, 15 min walk from St Pancras. 3 min walk to Goodge St tube station.
The hotel has no lift so avoid if you don't want to lug your cases up stairs. It has three floors above ground and the breakfast room is one level below ground.
Rooms are small yes but clean, and also quiet with good noise insulation from the traffic outside on Gower St. You can easily sleep without being distracted by outside noise.
I stayed in double room 302 on the third floor. Small yes but nice and clean, tea and coffee making facilities, a narrow bathroom with shower cubicle and enough storage space either side of the sink. Nice big mirror too although fairly dimly lit. The bed is a small double so if you're over 6 foot tall you may overhang!
Breakfast is nice - choice of tea, coffee, fruit juices, fresh fruit, cereals and the staff will also take your cooked breakfast order if you want one - on offer is bacon, eggs how you want, sausage, cooked tomato etc.
For a great local place to eat dinner look behind Goodge St tube station (which is on Tottenham Court Road) on Charlotte Street which is the heart of the area known as 'Fitzrovia'. You'll find some great Italian, Greek, Mexican, Indian and Thai restaurants plus some decent London pubs.
Check out time is 11am but they will happily look after your cases in reception if you want to come back later in the day to collect them before leaving London.
If you don't want luxury but just a decent clean quiet place to stay in a nice and convenient area then you could do much worse than stay here.

Our expectations weren't high before we arrived, having read some of the appalling reviews on here. However, for the price, we have no real complaints. The location is brilliant. We found our room to be very quiet, even with the window wide open.
We had a good room. It wasn't big, but it was perfectly adequate for the three of us in a triple room. The bathroom was small, but again adequate for our needs. The room was clean, the bathroom well stocked with towels, shower gel/shampoo etc. tea, coffee and shortbread was provided along with a bottle of mineral water.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with bacon, sausage, tomato and the choice of fried, poached or scrambled eggs. Three different types of fruit, cereals, and juice were freely available. We were offered tea or coffee and received ample quantities of each. My only issue here was that on our first morning we had to wait until a table became available. I've never had that happen in a hotel before! They had also run out of sausages, and we were not compensated with more of any other item. However this only happened the once.
For the location and the price I really can't complain about the Cavendish. It is so close to the city centre and many attractions. Buses run frequently from bus stops a few yards from the hotel. It's a short walk from Euston. Beds were comfortable, room was clean and the choice of breakfast items great.

Room Tip: We were at the rear of the hotel on the first floor. It was quiet and our room was a reasonable size...

We booked this hotel because it was near to Euston station. It only took us 5 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel.
The reason for our stay was to go to a gig in Brixton. The reception was24 hours so we knew that we would be able to getb back in to the hotel in the early hours of the morning.
On arrival we were met by a very friendly receptionist. The room was big, clean and quiet.
The staff were amazing and ensured we had a good stay.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to London. We walked from the hotel and saw all the sights by foot before walking back past the hotel to go to the train station. Very good location and such lovely staff.

I had the unfortunate experience of being booked into this hotel under the understanding that it was a four star hotel. As a female travelling on her own I look at safety over cleanliness - unfortunately neither were present at this hotel. I checked into room 105 which has to be the smallest room in London - ensuite was barely bigger than a small cupboard. There were stains on the two lampshades, the roller blind would not close and the door would not lock properly. After complaining to the reception desk I was kindly offered an upgrade which was slightly better than the original room but right at the top of the top with seemingly no fire escape and again a problem with the lock on the door. I am amazed that this is rated four star but seemingly this is self rated and not an accredited four star. Believe me I am not normally a person who would complain but there was no way I could stay at this hotel - not clean and not safe - sorry.

Room Tip: Single rooms are barely a cupboard

Stayed for 1 night in 2nd weekend in November when we went to see The Bodyguard at the theatre. We booked a double and got a King suite on 2nd floor - great upgrade! It was vast and fantastically furnished. Only issue we had was that it was too hot even with the window open on a very cold night! Oh yes and the bathroom was very poorly lit. But we were very pleased given the price we had paid. Breakfast was only continental but was fine. We could have paid for a full english but the breakfast staff were quite surly and didn't encourage special orders!
It was very conveniently located for Theatres and British Museum etc. Would go there again.

After reading reviews of this hotel we were undecided on wether to cancel or not. Having been told if we cancelled we would still have to pay for the 1st nights stay,we decided to give it a try rather than loose money. The hotel is in a Fab location, reception staff were very helpful an always at hand wen we needed them, always happy to help regarding info on tubes, busses, and local food deliveries. 1st night we stayed in a 3 bed room which 3rd bed was a sofa bed. Not very spacious but it dis the job. Room was clean and had everything we needed, yes it wasnt LUXURY, but then what do you want for the price! It isnt exactly gonna be the ritz is it lol, we couldnt understand why people had moaned. 2nd night we was upgraded to a large 4 bed room with 2 dble beds. Was on street level but there wasnt much noise as u would expect being on a main road. The rest of our stay was great. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and very friendly staff. At the end of the day, this hotel does what it says. Its convenient, clean, and has all amenieties needed. If your looking for LUXURY then dont stay here simples! Go elsewhere and pay LUXURY PRICES. I cannot comment on the very small rooms(which seem to b the ones with bad reviews) but our stay was great. DONT LISTEN TO REVIEWS! GO SEE FOR YOURSELF.
