Stayed here this weekend nearly cancelled booking due to reading the reviews ....
So pleased I never this hotel is central to everything Oxford street, tube and busses.
We had a 3 night stay firstly we had 3 bed room with the view of the BT tower, then free of charge was upgraded to a 4 bed room facing the front which you can here traffic, but never disturbed us.
The reception staff were very friendly and very helpful. Excellent choice for breakfast
Rooms were cleaned everyday all your basic needs met .
Will be booking again January ....

Glorified B&B, is certainly not a 4 star hotel. Room was very basic, small and not particularly clean. Service was adequate. Breakfast was not great and minimal. Do not get confused with the obviously superior Cavendish Hotel, St James's, Mayfair.

Not much to add really. If you need something at short notice that isn't a rip-off, that's clean and tidy, this place will do.

The rooms are, shall we say, snug, the chaps of Reception are helpful and its well-situated for UCL, Bloomsbury and the British Museum. Won't hurry back, but wouldn't avoid it, either.

Location: fantastic, close to Oxford street and a few minutes away from many tube station, nice area

Reception: I used to work as a receptionist so I can tell you these guys have no clue about this job
They do not know anything, rude, slow and just oh My God... we did not even complain.. we were just laughing on everything they did...

Room: would be ok BUT the windows did not close properly + they close heating for the night = I was freezing!!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast: for a 2-3 star hotel would be ok, but for a 4 star??? The staff is nice, but every morning talking too loud in the kicthen in Polish so it was very annoying...
You have only a few vold stuff for breakfast or ask for some limited hot meal...

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Cavendish! The service from the staff was professional, warm and friendly! Location is fantastic - close to the Tube (Euston), British Museum, local high street, University and pubs!! Gower street is really lovely - the architecture is fantastic. The full english breakfast was delicious and all at a reasonable price. It is a converted house, so more a really nice B&B, but we had a really neat stay. Our room was a great size! Even though we looked out on the street, except for the sirens (which are mega loud in the UK), the rooms were noise free! Very comfortable nights sleep and free wireless! Happily stay again.

I've stayed in a number of these B and Bs on Gower Street and this is not one I would particularly recommend. The building and gardens are not well maintained- the interior has been refurbished to an acceptable standard and appeared superficially clean. Staff in dining room are good ( thank you), Staff in reception hugely variable with some extremely unhelpful individuals. In a competetive world I suggest people vote with their feet and stay at an alternative b and b on Gower street.

I booked a cabin room for 3 nights - as expected snug - but on the ground floor with a rear room door which backed onto a walled garden which could not be locked securely.
When I highlighted this I was told the maintenance man doesn't work on Sunday. I requested another room, to be told that they didn't have another cabin room. I could have a single for an additional £15 but this would need to be approved by the manager who at the time was uncontactable. Having gone to dinner and returned - I was informed that I would have to remain in the insecure room until the next day.
I was informed that I should have requested a change earlier, even though I had and after much negotiating I was offered an single room this time for £25.
The receptionist was reluctant to speak to me and kept his head down - only speaking mostly to my male friend.
I felt that they weren't helpful in finding a solution, I was unable to speak to the manager and when I asked for a name was only given a first name, the receptionist said he didn't know his surname.
Never again!!
