Staff is very helpful, apartment is just fine. As they say themselves "it's a two-three star hotel in a five star location." Plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and next to Portobello Market and the Tube. Street noise was not an issue, although we were on the fifth floor apartment 22. Nice to have a small kitchen.

I was going to stay in 202 in December 2010, but apparently they are employing some sub-par people in their reservations.

I queried for a studio apartment, and was told that if I wanted it I should fill in a form and then email it to them. I then told them that I wanted the apartment and asked them to send in the form, which I filled and sent back to them. After sending in the form, I was promptly told that the apartment wasn't available anymore because they had rented it to someone else.

I would say it's very unprofessional to even offer the same apartment to multiple people for the same timeframe, pretty much like offering to sell one car to five people at once...

We stayed for 4 nights in a studio apartment. The kitchen and bathroom were separate and off the small hall. In the hall there was also large storage cupboard which was perfect for our pushchair and coats etc. This is also where to find iron, ironing board and hairdrier which was handy. The kitchen was small , very 70s decor but very clean and had everything in way of crockery, utensils, microwave, kettle , toaster etc you could need. The fridge had small freezer compartment. The bathroom was quite large with old fashioned yellow bath, sink etc but the shower over the bath was brill and the great thing was there was plenty of shelving space for all your toiletries and a heated towel rail and bathroom cabinet with mirrors with extra space.

In the living area there were very comfortable twin beds and we had arranged (free of charge) for a campbed to be set up for our 3 year old. All beds were very comfy, the pillows were fab and the bed linen was clean and soft. All in all we all had a great night's sleep every night. The weather was really hot, which was good and a large fan was provided which was a godsend. The room also had wardrobe, plenty of drawers, bedside lamps, small round glass dining table with seating for 3. We also had a large flatscreen tv with freeview TV so childrens channels available all day till 7.00pm. The other great thing was the large balcony. On the balcony was a small table and a few seats. The balcony was safe for kids - obviously as there are tables and chairs out there that could be climbed up on you wouldn't leave kids out there on their own.

The balcony was perfect in the hot weather and only got the sun in the morning so nice and shady late afternoon and evening. We were fortunate to have a room round the back of the building (apartment 5 on second floor) though so it was pretty quiet at night. The rooms at the front were probably a bit noisier but don't think they would be too bad.

I think it's best to focus on the actual apartment in a review as i'm sure everyone will have researched the area but what I will say is that it's got to be one of the best locations in London. 5 minutes walk to Kensington Gardens/ Hyde Park where you'll find Princess Diana's memorial gardens. they are unbelievably good for kids with pirate ship, treasure chests, wigwams and loads to play with. 3 minute walk to Tube Station. 5 Minutes to tesco. To get to Tesco come out the front door of the apartment turn right and then cross to the left across kensington church street. Tesco is across the road on nottinghill gate itself - just past macdonalds and Boots on the right hand side.

In conclusion if you are looking for absolute luxury then this apartment is probably not for you but for £99 per night for an apartment in that location then you could not wish for a better place. As I said the kitchen and bathroom are old fashioned but very clean and fully functional. I won't be staying anywhere else in London ever again.

Enjoy!

This is a great location at a good price. A good value overall. We stayed a week. The manager was very nice and let us borrow a cellphone during our stay. We filled it with minutes before we left. The rooms were adequate, the website is accurate in what you get. I think this part of London is a very good location. There's a bank, a good pub (The Old Swan), subway station, and a Whole Foods nearby.

To be begin with, the corridors are rather dim and the place looks old, but get past these and you will discover a wonderful place to stay! It is a rather spacious apartment we stayed in and with a new big TV where we watched the World Cup! Everything is very clean, from the beds and linens to kitchen and rooms. We made good use of the kitchen, from cooking breakfast to dinner! All appliances functioning well! We got our grocery from the nearby Tesco's and Marks and Spencer's. And yes, so many shops/cafes within walking distance. This is really a great location! The tube is nearby and so are bus-stops to many places! We took the bus to bond street for shopping, actually more convenient than the tube! Also very convenient to take the bus to Paddington Station to take the Heathrow Express to the airport! Free one hour WIFI access! If not, go to Macdonald's for free WIFI! Hyde Park is 5 minutes walking distance. Portobello Market is 10 minutes walking distance. WE would go back to stay if we visit London again!

the reviews are basically all in agreement: shabby place in a great llocation. if you can get past the shabby, its great.

the shabby is basically that its old. the batghroom is straight out of the fifties (pastel pink) with tons of dried caulk applied over the years to stop leaks. (our bathroom was marginally not as nice as the web site pic). the kitchen was 50's yellow, tiny and exactly as pictured on the web. the living room and bedroom walls had minor stains, minor torn wallpaper, scartched doors, etc. the flat had some issues, but was significantly more space than we could find elsewhere for the price.

the location was as good as it gets. its in a real neighborhood (think upper west side of manhattan or soma in san francisco) that was humming with activity, a bookstore, restaurants, and all sorerts of other real-ife retail. its 50 yards from 3 of the most useful tube lines (which lines matters becasue transferring can be a royal pain), but more importantly, on several major bus routes (we found using the buses to be more fun thabn the tube)

i'd stay there again

I have stayed at 202 Apartments many times over the last 13 years, so it has come to feel like a home away from home. There are many reasons that I am a repeat guest and these include the warm personality of Susan Fraser, who manages the apartments, the fabulous location, the convenience of having so many shopping, transport and dining options so close-by and the comfort of the flats.

202 Apartments are located right along the bus routes, so you can easily hope into buses going to High Street Kensington (in one direction) and Bayswater (in the other). It is also close to many other bus routes, so central London is just a few stops away. Notting Hill tube station is about 5 minutes walk away.

There are a variety of flats available from studios to 1/2 bedroom suites, and so there is something to suit most types of travellers from solo guests to groups of friends or families. Each contains a well-kept bathroom and kitchenette. The rooms are cleaned daily, unlike some other apartment services. There is still a homey quality about the flats, so you might be tempted to feel like you really are home.

Susan and her staff are very friendly and attentive to the needs of their guests. I have received several tips on things to do and places to visit over the last few years.

Overall, I think 202 is a great choice for travelers, especially those visiting London for the first time. There is so much to do in the immediate vicinity. The only drawback of this perhaps is that if you have a flat facing Kensington Church Street, you will have to contend with the sounds from the street of cars and buses going by, people chattering and having fun. However, this also serves to remind you that you are in a 24-hour city. If this will be a problem, I recommend asking for a flat that faces the back (Rabbit Row).
