“Great for families”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

The manager Susie is very family oriented and super nice. We came in on an early flight with 2 kids including an infant . She went out of her way to ensure our room was prepped and ready for us in the shortest possible time, held our cranky baby while we used her bathroom and kept our luggage so we could get breakfast and have the kids play in the very nearby kesington gardens park. The room are dated but kept very clean, soundproof and large. Location is very central, tube station is 2 minute walk, restaurant downstairs. For this price we would stay here Again.

Stayed at 202 for 1 week and was happy with the choice. I picked 202 based on reviews on TA and price for London for 1 week. As stated 202 offers clean and basic rooms but with the attraction, for us, of a small kitchen. The rooms are quite dated in thier furnishings, however the kitchen seemed to of been recently renovated. It was well equipped with microwave, oven, hotplate, toaster and all the things you would normally find in a kitchen as well as a washer for your clothes. It suited us well as we bought a few breakfast things, beer, wine etc so was able to control our budget a little better. We had a small balcony at the back of the property which was away from the busy road so it was nice sitting out there for a few drinks before going out. The bed, I suggest, should be the next upgrade. It was ok but probably past its used by date.
Location wise, 202 is in a great spot. Buses out the front, out the back, out the side and Notting Hill Gate Tube Station 3 minute walk away with access to 3 lines. The local Kensington area is upmaket and very nice. Couldnt of been better. The immediate area is full of shops, bars and restaurants and the Portebello Road markets are 10 min walk away. The location is unbeatable.
The managers on site were very helpful and the house staff always cleaned the rooms very well. The email I received prior to arrival was most helpful, loaded with information and useful tips. It was a nice touch. The ability to leave our bags with the management was appreciated as we had a late flight out of Heathrow.
To sum up, if your looking for upmarket accomodation forget it. If you want a clean ,reasonably price room in a hard to beat location to use while your in London it would be hard to find anything better.

Room Tip: Book well in advance.

This was our second time staying here. We kept looking for something different this time, but everything we came across had questionable reviews for our price range and location. We finally decided to go ahead and stay here again as we knew what it was like already and liked it very much the first time.
We had asked for the same room as the one we had before. Instead, we received a different room but on the same floor and with a balcony like the other one. Disappointed at first but when we saw the room we were very, very happy with it! More spacious and a bit more modern than the one we had the first visit.
Also, we had late check-in and found the keys as explained to us - but had issues getting into the building because we forgot the code was sent to us in an email. Thank goodness for smart phones - we were able to find the email and the code.
Our stay was perfect! It was quiet, clean and pleasant. If there was only one bad thing, we didn't get a chance to say hi to Susie this time until the end when we dropped off the keys. She is a remarkable and friendly person, and seems to genuinely care about her guests.
I would stay here again and again, The location is perfect for transport to other parts of London, night life, late night eats, convenience shops and markets, and shopping.

We came to London to visit our son living in Notting Hill at Eastertime. We were not really looking for an apartment, not needing a kitchen, but found that the options in the area were very slim, especially when we factored out hotels without elevators, private baths, or enough space for three adults. The apartment was about two blocks from my son's place and had sufficient space for my husband, my 23-year old son (who had the futon in the living room) and my husband.

The bottom line is that we were very grateful that Trip Advisor carried information about these apartments, as we would never have found this accommodation otherwise and there were really no other options. (I've heard that a zoning restriction has made accommodations very scarce in the Notting Hill area.) An added benefit was that we could park our rental car below the building.

Having said that, I would caution Americans especially to adust their expectations downward (a good idea for everything in London, not just accommodations). Even though we had two rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, this is not to say that this felt anything like what could be had in the States at, say, a Residence Inn. I would not give a four-star rating if this were in the States; I am thinking only of London comparisons. The living room was sizeable but the bedroom was a bit small, and the decor ran from minimalist to shabby. We came on a four-day bank holiday weekend, and there was very little service available until the holiday was over. There is also nothing hotel-like about it: no lobby, no restaurant, and, very important, no telephones in the room. So make sure that you have a cell phone that can be used in England!

The lack of ambiance extends to the immediate area. Although it is very convenient, it has zero to negative atmosphere. If you are thinking of a cup of tea in a charming, quaint area, you'll have to walk a few blocks. All the surrounding buildings, like the accommodations (which I think are converted offices) are fifties' era "modern": ugly. My daughter-in-law's theory is that the intersection of Kensington Church Road and Bayswater Road must have been hit by a bomb in WWII and buildings of the immediate postwar area replaced the earlier, more atmospheric ones.

However, there are a few conveniences immediately available. In addition to the good public transportation mentioned by other reviews, there are several banks and ATMs, a very nice bookstore across the street, a currency exchange, a Starbucks, restaurants, an adjacent pub (which can be noisy at night), and for groceries a Tesco and a Marks and Spencer. We particularly liked the Marks and Spencer for ready-made foods to go.

In conclusion, it was perfect for us and would be quite good for those needing a lot of space at a reasonable cost that is in a convenient location. It would not be the best choice for anyone wanting an atmospheric place for any "cocooning" time.

We stayed at the studio apartment with our young daughter for whom the proprietors had obliged with a complimentary camp bed. The apartment was well equipped with a kitchen, queen bed, dining table, flat screen TV and a bathroom with sufficient hot water. The kitchen had all the amenities; small fridge, microwave, stove, washing machine and was even stocked with washing liquid & sponge. The unit was equipped with a video security system where you can see & buzz in your visitors at the main entrance. There is also parking available to guests on the property which is a rarity in London.
The best thing about the apartment is the location. It is located within a short walk to Notting Hill Gate tube station, where one can catch 3 lines: Central, District & Circle. Very convenient indeed! And for shopaholics, the Central line will take you to Oxford St to the west and Westfield White City to the east. Also, buses are easy to catch. There is a Waterstones bookshop right opposite the apartment and there are supermarkets, convenience stores, phamarcies & various eateries around the apartment.
Another nice thing was the welcome email sent by the Manager which contains all info you need to know before arriving, which is useful even if this is not one's first visit to London.
The only thing that could be improved is the windows in the unit, especially in the bathroom were not very tight and it got a bit draughty & cold. Wifi Internet costs £20 for a week, connection was so-so and could be accessed by 1 device at a time only.
Overall, it was a fabulous place to stay in London even if the apartment was furnished simply as the location was superb.

The location is very strategic and close to famous shooping areas such as Oxford street and Picardilly. Very near to public transport, tour bus and Notting Hill Gate tube station. The location is at the end of Kesington Church Street that meets the Baywater street leading to Oxford street. Public bus and tour bus pass in front of the apartment, so you do need to take distance walk to reach the Public transport like some of the other hotels and apartment. The moment you come out from the the apartment you can reach the nearest bus stop by the side of Baywater street.

It is a budget apartment , reasonable price with basic amenities and the big room that I stayed can easily accomodate my family members consist of 4 adults and 3 kids even though it is not space luxury. Suzie the owner has provided extra beds for my family without additional cost. So it is worth staying here taking into account London is an expensive city.

The apartments are basic (not modern at all), but clean and exactly what we needed. We had a livingroom with sofabed and a separate bedroom with twinbeds. Besides that also a small kitchen and a bathroom. The apartment gets cleaned every day (except weekends) and towels are changed every two days.
The location is perfect. Close to the metro station which runs 3 tube lines. There are several supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants etc at a 3 minutes walking distance.
