We had a late lunch there in October 2012. It was a quiet time of day, and there were ony a few people there. I noticed that local people stopped in, just for a quick chat. That is a good sign.

The food was "just average," plentiful and inexpensive. The gent who seemed to be the boss, and the young barman, were friendly. I wouldn't travel across town to visit here, but this is one of the places favored by local TripAdvisor London Forum members for "pub meets." They have the space and amenable staff for groups. For that, I would travel way across town.

Had lunch yesterday after being referred by our hotel in Euston Rd. My partner's first meal was a reheated soggy tart with a greasy side salad. After a complaint they bought a new meal, specially requested with no oil on the salad. Guess what arrived? Another greasy oily salad ! ! Despite the terrible food, the service and drinks were great. The young man behind the bar did his utmost to provide the best service, only to be let down by the kitchen staff.
Have a drink or two but eat next door or somewhere else ! !

Have used this Pub on and off for over thirty years.Latest visit not great. The beer was very good but ordered ham and eggs and got a ham sandwich instead , I did not complain as my partners food had arrived at the same time. The ham sanwich had no butter in it and had to chase the barman for butter and was told that in this pub we do not put butter in sandwiches. Oh well.
I remeber when the Lamb served Veal & Ham Pies great cheeses and wonderful salads and hot wholesome winter food ,looks like it has been replaced with boring no effort food .Shame realy need to review menu.

Visited this previously in March and service then was terrible. What a difference now, the barman was attentive and was even happy to hold conversation. The food, beer and wine was very good. If I had one complaint it would be the price of a double G & T, Over £8, Guess thats my fault for ordering it, used to Spanish measures. I think all pubs should offer special double prices, just a suggestion. Just felt the need to review again and be more positive, everyone deserves a second chance. Just keep those staff attentive and serve with a smile. See you again in January.

I love this pub, close to the west end & the city, with the British library & British Museum only 10 mins walk away.
Great beer, lovely people both sides of the bar.
Very busy mind most of the time with locals tourists & workers yet unspoilt and unpretentious.
Wouldn't change it for the world!
