I discovered Hoxton as a fairly recently and thought it was pretty nice, familliar and had very friendly staff - all very eager to please.
A lack of premium spirits & personal touch on the drinks menu, generally seemed very basic. Until then I thought it was a pretty good place to drink I then decided it was time to go into the 'dancey' room which had probably the most mediocre DJ I have ever heard, not only having absolutely no skills in DJ'ing but also didn't know how to decipher different genre's of music and was just putting together any songs. He may as well have just put Spotify on shuffle with every generic popular song. For somewhere which appeared to want to have a unique and 'indie' take on things there was a massive lack of attention to detail which brought the whole place down. I have since been there on a weekend and it seems as though all this bar really wants is a pretty penny from post work drinkers & drunken locals.
