I have attended many of the regular evening events held at Guildhall Library since they were introduced around 18 months ago.
The topics are wide-ranging and varied, but almost always relevant to the libraries key collections, the History of London, Maritime, or Food.
Some of the events I have attended are:
Charles Dickens - an entertaining talk by the Great-Great-Great Granddaughter of Charles, Lucinda Hawksley.
The Windmill Girls - A potted history / experiences of working at the Windmill theatre by some of the Windmill Girls.
Jerry White's London in the 18th Century - a talk on the sights, smells, characters and a view of society by the renowned historian.
After the lecture/talks there is the chance to have a glass of wine and socialise with people with similar interests and perhaps purchase a signed book from the guest speaker.
The library also holds many exhibitions by the Guilds based around the City of London. The launch events for these are particularly good value with some great finger food to go with the wine!
The staff I have found to be most welcoming, helpful, and often knowledgeable on the subjects matter being discussed.
Recommended for an entertaining, informative evening.
