This is a goodt place for a mum and daughter relax and bonding sessions and I noticed 2 couples doing exactly that. Things are starting to stop working probably due to the complete restoration scheduled. I beleive they have a grant from English Heritage to start this work. A morning slot costs £8 and is ladies only on Monday and Weds - perhaps other days. They do run a few mixed sessions but predominently single sex so you can wear as much as you feel comfortable with. The helpful local attendant looks out for new people and lets you know which lockers do and dont lock and about the extras and amenities available. For example a 30 min scrub is £8 and a deluxe is £12 - this involves salt or sugar. You can also book a massage. There are refreshments and basic food available all reasonably priced. The locals who use the place frequently are full of hints and tips from using pure advocado as a cream to use of lofah mits to insure you dont put back the soap you took off. Very hot steam room apparently the guys like it hotter. Fits 4 and 6 at a squeeze. The sauna contains 3 warm and hotter rooms. Great deco tiles but a bit grubby. You may recongnise this place as the place where the villains in Ashes to Ashes discuss their business clad only in towel. Lots of filming goes on here.
There are beds to lie on after and a very cold water fountain. There is also an icy plunge pool. The costs of a session includes a swim unfortunately when I was there the large pool is roped in half allowing only a swim in the slow lane. This because the other half is used for schools. Good exercise nether the less.
I still think this is great value for money (stayed for 3 hours) and beleive this was ranked one of the top 5 spas in London. Came away feeling wonderful.
