As a complete novice (only ever been on a horse once) I went for an hours lesson at the Wimbledon Village Stables and had a wonderful time! I was made to feel very welcome and had a lot of fun out on my ride through the common (which is beautiful) on a lovely horse called Patrick. When I returned from the lesson the staff asked how I did and I was made to feel like the best rider in the world for managing four canters!!

I don't live to far away from the stables and will definitely be going again!

I rode at Wimbledon Village Stables during a visit to London in March, and it far exceeded my expectations! This is a tidy and impeccably run facility with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The horses are all stunning, and you can immediately see that they are loved and very well cared for. One magnificent gelding named Clyde immediately caught my eye, so you can imagine my delight when I found out that he was my mount for the 2 hour hack through Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park.

I rode out with one other gentleman and our guide, Joanna. She was wonderful and made sure the ride was well-paced and covered a good route through the 2 parks. I enjoyed chatting with her and sharing horse stories. As promised, this hack was for experienced riders, so there was a good deal of trotting and cantering. Clyde moved like a dream and carried himself beautifully. Rarely do I have the opportunity to ride a horse of his calibre!

Both Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park were lovely and had excellent bridle paths. You would never believe they are so close to a major city like London! The horses all behaved impressively amid the activity in the parks: barking dogs, a massive rugby tournament, cars, cyclists, golfers, deer, etc. Nothing phased them in the slightest. 2 hours melted away like nothing, and I was very sad when the ride was over. I will absolutely ride again at Wimbledon Village Stables in the future!

I love riding at WVS! The common is such a beautiful place and within 15 minutes, you would never know you are anywhere near a major city. The hacks cater for advanced riders with walk, trot and canter offered. The lessons are held at a good pace and everyone receives individual attention, even in a group lesson. I really cannot recommend them highly enough! Do call early as they get booked out quickly on the weekends.
