Three month's ago I booked and paid for a city view room only to find on arrival we had a room overlooking a main railway line and a very large building site, the site started work at 8 am every morning even Sunday, although the staff were very friendly and the room was clean we were disappointed, just be aware that a lot of building work is going on.

I am sorry that your city view room was not to your liking. Please feel free on your next booking to contact me personally so I may oversee your booking and make your next stay more to your liking.
Sincerely,

Disappointed with this London Hotel! Position ok by Thames, pretty sterile and uninspiring overnight stay.Much of time spent waiting for lifts to 7th floor and room(716) small and pretty dated with a view of well other small and pretty dated rooms.Food average, service ok.Returning to the capital next year, but not to this hotel!

Room Tip: 502....view of The Shard

A couple of nights overnight stay in London on business. Colleagues had booked this hotel so I thought I would give it a go.

Location:

Located on Albert Embankment, near Lambeth Bridge, ideal really as it’s a short walk or tube ride from most places. Much quieter location than the one at Westminster, here you are away from a majority of the tourists.

Rooms:

Via the work portal I had booked a double room. On arrival, I was allocated room 326 which had twin beds, and looked over the atrium which was very dark.

I asked at reception to be moved to a double room, and was switched to room 321 (anyone remember dusty bin?). To my surprise this was a junior suite, but the only drawback was the main train line to waterloo ran behind the hotel. So from about 6am to midnight it was clatter clatter clatter.

The room however was great, although the décor poor in places. In the living room area, there was a large desk, sofa (which became a bed if required) and TV. The bedroom had a large comfy bed, another TV unit and built in wardrobes with safe, iron etc.

The bathroom was massive, a separate shower area and bath (did not use bath). There were complementary toiletries which were replenished daily.

Only observation was that a bottle of water was in the room upon arrival but this did not get replenished during the stay.

Restaurant:

Used only for breakfast, but this was not in the main restaurant area, but a separate room on the lower ground floor.

But the quality and variety of food was OK, and they managed to do some poached eggs for me.

Bars:

Good table service and the usual selection of nuts etc with each drink purchased.

General Areas:

All aspects of the hotel were very well maintained.

Staff:

Very friendly and always happy to please.

Non hotel observations:

Good location for exploring, about 30 mins walk to Victoria and in the other direction the London eye.

But don’t hire a boris bike!

Room Tip: Avoid a room at the rear of the hotel, as this is near the train track, also avoid overlooking the c...

We were attending a charity ball at this hotel and decided, at the last minute, that we would like to stay over. We would not have contemplated staying at the hotel had we not been there for a function as, although it was only a 5 minute walk to Vauxhall train/tube station it's not as central as we would ordinarily choose however we would definitely consider staying there again should we need overnight accommodation in London.

We received a complementary upgrade to a river view suite room on arrival and the room allocated was absolutely lovely, with great views over the Houses of Parliament. All the staff were polite and friendly and the bed (something I usually struggle with in hotel rooms) was extremely comfortable.

Unfortunately as we were there for an event we didn't sample the bar or the restaurants though both looked lovely and the room service menu certainly seemed to indicate that there was sufficient selection for everyone.

This hotel was only £20 more than the south bank Premier Inns and offers so much more.

There is some external building work and, despite being a weekend, the builders were hard at it before 9am which was a shame as there was no rush to check out but this is not enough to put me off staying here again. In fact it was a shame that we were literally using the hotel as an overnight base as I would have liked to enjoy the wonderful suite we had some more!

Room Tip: If you're not offered a room upgrade, ask for one. You may have to pay a small supplement but t...

Booked 3 night break in river view executive room, only to find that somewhere along the line the 'river view' requirement got lost. Anyway, very friendly receptionist fixed the problem & at a cost we upgraded to a suite. This was very nice & gave us extra space. The view from the sitting room was beautiful but from the bedroom not so. Building work next door meant the view on day 1 was better than on day 3 because the building next door was being rebuilt, so what little view there was from the bedroom disappeared. Suspect the higher the floor the better the view & undoubtedly more expensive the room.

Staff were very friendly & helpful. We didn't eat at the hotel other than on our first night when we used room service. We had booked 'room only' and felt breakfast rates very expensive (from memory around £23 for a full English). A little further down the road an excellent breakfast can be had for £6!
Bed was comfortable but pillows were not - no choice in these like you get at other high end hotels which was disappointing.
I paid our bill early before we were ready to finally leave our room just in case there might be a queue. Despite the receptionist being aware that we weren't quite ready to leave, when I returned to our room all lights had gone off & fridge locked (we know this because my husband went to take out water we'd bought for our journey). It seems that as soon as I paid our bill, no more services (neither lighting nor TV was available to us). Have never experienced this at any other hotel before and I felt it was as bit of a cheek from a hotel of this standard. Certainly didn't make me feel like a valued or trusted customer. :(

Room Tip: River view makes a difference, but costly. If I came again I would save money on room for spending...

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for your review, I was sorry to hear that there was a mix up in regard to the river view and I can assure you that this is not common place.
On reviewing your comments, there is no price difference weather you are in a high room or lower floor room and again I am sorry that the view was not to your liking. In all our rooms we have non allergy pillows in the cupboard and feather on the bed, however should a guest need any type of pillow or bedding we can accomodate this via a guest requesting through housekeeping.
In relation to your locked mini bar, when a guest is checked out of the room it is automatically locked as are the lights as there is no key programmed into the room activation panel, again I apologise if you were checked out from our system before you had actually left the room.
Please feel free to email me directly should you next book with us and I will personally oversee your booking.
Sincerely and in your service,
Paul James Sanchez

This is a very modern hotel located just across the Thames (on the other side of the parliament square). However, you can walk a few blocks, or take the bus or the tube and you are just in the middle of the most popular zones.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities including coffee maker.
It faces the river and if you pay for an upgrade, you can have a room with a great view!
One special mention to the staff: they are all incredibly attentive and helpful.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back face the railway, so it''s better to be in a upper floor

We booked a good deal online directly with the hotel and opted for the room upgrade at the time of booking. We were lucky enough to get a side river view room, with superb views across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament – a nice treat! Our super view was due to major demolition work taking place next door – once the building is reconstructed, the view won’t be available. Building/demolition work started after 9.00am weekdays only and didn’t impact on our stay at all.

Our welcome and check-in was excellent – a very friendly and efficient member of staff. Rooms are modern, spacious, well appointed and lovely contemporary bathrooms too. The air conditioning was excellent – we usually find hotel rooms too warm, but this worked perfectly.

Public areas are smart and we enjoyed cocktails in the bar one evening – yes you do pay a premium for hotel prices but having walked all day it was good to relax and have a drink at the hotel.

Other reviewers have mentioned location – yes, it is slightly further out from tube stations, but this is reflected in the room rate compared to more central hotels. It is still only a ten minute walk from Waterloo station.

Our only niggle was that the room hadn't been cleaned/made-up on our return to the hotel at 5pm, but housekeeping staff seemed to be under huge pressure and were incredibly apologetic - we simply exchanged used towels for fresh ones.

This is the 3rd Park Plaza we have stayed out – if the deals continue, we’ll return!

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view!
