“Good Hotel, But Closer to a 3 Than a 5 Star”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

I almost rated it a 3, but decided that would be too harsh. Our room was fairly spacious and was generally clean. From reading prior reviews I assumed that we'd either get an ugly view of the railroad or a gorgeous view of the Thames and Parliament. We actually ended up with a sideview room that provided a partial view of the river, and we were satisfied with that. The location was decent, though we are theater buffs and would probably stay in the West End if we're lucky enough to return to London in the future. Our shower leaked and the bars of soap were the smallest we ever recall seeing in a hotel (or anywhere else for that matter), but neither of those issues were major problems. The public areas of the hotel are beautiful, and the staff was reasonably friendly.

Dear Traveler3933,

Thank you for your review and the constructive feedback in regards to the toiletries. In line with our Green policy we have adjusted the size of our soaps for a single use however our guests are always welcome to request more if needed. We hope this did not mar your stay.

We would be really happy to welcome you back in the future!

We booked a room via a secret rooms for a very good price, although we could only see the river by cleaning our necks round the window the room itself was clean, well equipped and comfortable. We were visiting the west end which was within easy reach by bus or train. The hotel is situated about a ten minute walk from Waterloo station or five minutes from Vauxhall station.

Room Tip: If you plan to be in the room it's well worth upgrading to a river view.due to the close proximi...

We stayed at the Park Plaza from 18th to 21st of April. The location was great, central and everything. The minute you walked out from the hotel you could look at Big Ben or the London eye about 1-1,6km away. The downside was having to pay around 17pounds to get breakfast(not sure if it was per day or for the whole stay). Which we didn't do, because you can easily get tasty breakfast anywhere in London. The room was nice, however it could get really warm, the air condition helped, but during the night it changed between being too warm and having the right temperature! No noise or anything where we were located (the 8th floor). I recommend the hotel if you want to stay central. You can easily walk around or just jump on the tube from Vauxhall which is about a five minute walk away, or hop on a bus by Big Ben. Didn't have any trouble with the staff, they were helpful as far as we needed them. We didn't have a view over Big Ben, but then again we weren't too much in the room. The bathroom had both a shower and bath tub(separate), which is a big bonus in my opinion.! The one thing i noticed in regards of cleanliness were some soap residue on the sink.
All in all i recommend staying there!

Room Tip: If you're big on the view i recommend asking or upgrading so you get a view over the thames and...

Great shame as this hotel is in a good location & has the potential to be good but the staff lack direction/training & they have very poor customer interaction. The regular girl on the check in desk for frequent visitors clearly is not happy in her role. On at least 3 occasions she has provided me with an unsuitable room which I have then had to change. The latest instance was this week when after working a 15 hour day I found myself in a room with 2 single beds - I was too tired to request a move.

The room service food is some of the worst food I have come across - even after providing feedback nothing changes. I only stay here when my agent as no choice but to book me in. My recommendation is to avoid if you can.

Breakfast is no better with at least 3 members of staff tending each table, getting orders wrong & duplicating requests. It's chaos.

Room Tip: Ask or a room away from the railway.

Our room was clean but we could hear the lifts going up and down all night which did disturb us. I would have liked to have a bath but there were only facilities for a shower in our room, we got a cheap deal - hence the view of the railway station.
The hotel on the whole was very good however and I would recommend it.
The food in the Restaurant was very expensive but excellent. Breakfast could have been hotter.

Park Plaza Riverbank London located about 1-k to London eye. Meaning a quiet place and the walk by the river Thames is a bonus. I stay here quite often on my own when working in this part of London and, if I can book in advance, it is very reasonable. The restaurant on the Ground Floor is excellent for a dinner that is different and, if you upgrade to the executive lounge package, it is open for a freshly cooked breakfast which makes a nice change (however, the buffet breakfast in the basement is also good if you don’t want to upgrade)

The staff are friendlier than in some business hotels which can be quite nice if you are travelling alone.

The hotel is beginning to show a bit of wear and tear but it is still one of my favourites.

Room Tip: If you can afford it and are going to be there to take advantage of it a river view is great at nigh...
