Stayed in a single bed room on the ground floor for two nights. This was an old house that was converted into a guesthouse very cheaply. There is a common shower/toilet on the second floor which were clean. WiFi did not work, there isn't any housekeeping service, and you should bring your own pillowcases since they are not provided and I was surprised that the bed only had one sheet instead of two. There was a sink, closet, table, chair and refrigerator in the room. The morning I left the innkeeper couldn't be found! Its a 15 min walk to Manor House station, or 3 min bus ride from the stop right outside of the hotel. This hotel is in a residential area that doesn't have any convenience stores nearby.

We stayed in a basic en-suite room at the back of the building. Everything was clean and worked fine. Bed was comfortable. The street seemed like a quite residential area to me. The room was a bit tatty, but nothing terrible, and for the price you can't complain really. If you expect the finer things in life you have to pay for them!
The only problem we experienced was when we were told we might not be able to have the room we booked due to decorating, which wasn't very professional. But everything worked out fine in the end, the staff were friendly enough.
Cheap and cheerful.

Do not under any circumstances stay here!!

It was dirty, smelly, noisy, there was blood in the sink, the toilet didn't flush, there no shower, there was a bath but I wouldn't have used it for all the tea in China.

We left after one night and booked into a 4 star hotel in Richmond for only £10 a night more (lastminute.com).

So whatever your circumstances please do not stay here.

my name is chris and i represent amhurst hotel, first of all i would like to say that the amhurst hotel is not dirty, smelly or noisy i think that is what you call over exsagerating as for the blood it was hair dye in the sink as a female customer was dyeing her hair also the toilets do flush and we do have a shower, if you come to amhurst hotel and you find no shower you can stay for free for the duration of your booking apart from that we are very well priced and provide a natural and peaceful enviroment

Booked a triple room at late notice as all room central london were booked. We were expecting the worst when we arrived based on reviews hence why packed own pillow cases !! It was a relief when we arrived the manager was friendly and our triple room was basic but clean with a new carpet... small fridge in room with tea/coffee and milk in fridge.. shared kitchen etc.... shower was a bit dodgy but you could use other showers which were better... location was ok short bus ride to tube that were every couple of minutes then few stops into central london... for £20 a night each for london we cant complain.....

The Amhurst Lodge "guesthouse" is nestled on a busy street in one of North London's somewhat alarming housing estates. When you arrive, the landlord invites you into the "office" which is an empty room except for some shabby tables and ratty carpet from 1970. If you book online, prepare for the listed prices to be incorrect and then when you get there, you will likely find that the landlord has forgotten you made a reservation even though he e-mailed you three times. The room we did finally get was dingy, not particulalry clean, and up three flights of stairs bounded by a sticky banister. The landlord explained that there was no shower attached to the tiny bath because his last tenants kept flooding the floor. Then he warned us not to get mugged by people in the neighbourhood on our way home. The beds were wretched, we had no hot water for two days, and our "complimentary towles" were an odd shade of overused grey. At the end of our six nights, we were overjoyed to leave. Next time we are staying in a hostel.
Still, if you really need something on the cheap, 20 pounds each a night is very good for London. Just remember, you get what you pay for!
