“Extra clean and convenient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

after spending my last trip in the philippines I was amazed by how clean and cozy this hotel was. To me it looked like a 5 stars hotel. Staff was helpful. Bathroom, bed, floor were really clean.
A small water boiler was available.
100m from the subway and there is a mall just in front of it, perfect location !
breakfast was great, a lot of choice there.
wireless internet was not free, only downpoint

We stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of the week leading up to the Olympics. Family room for 4 at £199 for two nights plus parking for two days at £40. We were greeted by very courteous, helpful and smiling staff, something which continued throughout our stay. Why would you want to stay in Central London when you can stay in this far cheaper, fantastically clean and well presented little gem. The tube station is a five minute walk and then it's 10/15 mins on the Jubilee Line into Central London. Opposite is the 02 centre with Nandos, Sainsbury's, a cinema and a great Weatherspoons where on Mondays, you can get a pint for £2.10 - that's cheaper than I can get anywhere in Cardiff. They also do great looking food and have lots of meal/drinks deals on. We ate on one evening at Guglee Indian Restaurant, which is a few hundred yards along Finchley Road, past the very well stocked Waitrose. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive and very helpful and the price reasonable for the quality. To all the staff at the hotel, thanks so much for making our stay such a pleasant one. I was in two minds whether to post this review as, from a selfish perspective, I wanted to kep this little gem a secret but I'm hopeful any increased usage will not result in the quality going down. Well done HIE Swiss Cottage!

Pleasant stay during trip to London for a wedding.

Our double room was large, modern and. super-clean and the beds were really comfortable.

Breakfast was buffet style and perfectly good.

Two small grumbles: the TV system was being upgraded so only basic channels were available and we had to pay an extra £20 for parking

With the thought that the Olympics are only 2 weeks away I would if expected this well situated hotel to be great ! Not really . Three of us stopping for the Hyde park concerts so we had to use the pull out bed , this is the start . Bed had been repaired by what looked like a 5 year old child using left over wood . It fell apart every time we opened it .
The bathroom door would only shut if you put your shoulder into it , not great for other guests . Broken toilet seat, sink that didn't drain . Deliveries at 3 and 6 am in the morning .
On the plus side !good location for tube and eating , great Wetherspoons next door .
Good breakfast
Looking forward to the response from the manager following my letter ! Shame on you Swiss cottage

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Holiday Inn Express Swiss Cottage for 5 nights in the end of June 2012. The experience was mostly excellent, everything was clean, modern and comfortable. We were on the 5th floor, with a window not facing the street and we didn't experience any noise. The rooms are quite compact, as is to expect in London. It was very hot and humid in London the week we stayed and thankfully the air conditioning worked a treat! The location is fantastic as it's away from the overly busy city center but only a 2 minute walk to the next tube station. The negatives points however were that some of the staff could have been a bit friendlier and more helpful and the coffee in the breakfast area is absolutely horrible, worst coffee I've ever had and the breakfast selection isn't brilliant, but the food is edible, which is good. Over all would recommend to a friend and stay again.

Staff were even friendlier than last year.. Same great room, big, clean, quite, easy breakfast. Free 1-hour wifi per day in the lounge to start your day.. TV system was being upgraded so channels were limited but no big deal.. See you next year!

Room Tip: If you want a quite room, ask for one NOT overlooking Finchley Road.. Get the room with the "so...

I had a great five nigh stay at the HI Express - Swiss Cottage with my family in June 2012. This is a modern building, which is a real plus in London. The hotel is down the block from the Finchley Rd underground station on the Jubilee Line, which allows easy access to all locations in London and train stations for day trips. The rooms are small by American standards, but are clean and pleasant and a real bargain at London prices. Storage space in the room is limited, however, with only some shelving and a small hanger rack rather than dressers and closets. AC is available in each room, but we had to call the front desk to get it turned on (it came on very quickly). Internet access is available for a fee, but if you join the HI Priority One club (for free) you get 1-hour of free Wi-Fi access each day. Priority One members also get a free local newspaper of their choice each day. There are several good neighborhood restaurants in the area and I recommend Passage to India if you want Indian food. The hotel provides a free English breakfast, but it is not geared to the health-conscious. If you'd like to acquire some food of your own, there is a Sainsbury supermarket in the mini-mall across the street and another by the underground stop. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, however, so your options are a bit limited. The staff is largely non-British, which seems to be the norm in London at this price range, but all spoke excellent (if accented) English. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Street noise was not a problem at the back of the building.
