“Consistently Comfortable!”
Reviewed July 24, 2011

I have had occasion to stay at this charming, comfortable, and excellently-located hotel a number of times. Reception has always been warm, friendly, and instantaneous. I am older, so the help with my baggage has always been appreciated (and no tip expected). The staff is very friendly and eager to help in ways that you may need it. The rooms have always been immaculately clean (and kept that way during my stay). All the rooms are comfortably en suite The breakfast is the old-fashioned homemade generous English one, cooked to order, and they will cheerfully accommodate you if you prefer something different. The hotel is in a nice area, and incredibly well-located. I return here again and again, as it's become my home away from home.

Room Tip: Be sure to reserve in advance.

We wanted a room for somewhere to sleep after a late night gig. The room was shabby and teh facilities poor but the location was perfect for the gig in Soho. The room was hot and had no air conditioning and you couldn`t keep the window open as the road was incredibly noisy. When we woke in the morning it was to the smell of dirty fat where breakfast was being cooked, the vent must go through the bedrooms. We could not get out of there quick enough and we did not even stop to eat! I recommend finding somewhere else to stay unless the location is right for you because that`s the only thing this hotel has going for it.

I left a laptop computer in a cupboard in this hotel in the morning and made sure that my room door was locked behind me. When I returned to the hotel in the evening, the computer was gone and there was no sign of forced entry.

This is one of a long street of old row houses which have been converted into hotels, but since they are "listed" (i.e., for preservation) that means no lifts allowed, or other major changes. The shock was that there were a huge number of steps to negotiate to our room. The staff was helpful in lugging up our suitcases, but this could be a major drawback. The room itself is quite nice, facing a leafy courtyard, but the bathroom was so tiny that it was literally difficult to turn around once inside. Having said all that, I think it was good value for money considering astronomic London prices, and it is within walking distance of most places you'd want to get to, a 10 minute walk to the British Museum. B'fast is included and is very generous.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room, and one on lower level.

I think you will have to search quite hard to find anything as good a value as this hotel in London. Breakfast included, nice too. Clean and excellent location. Can't find fault for the money at all!

My stay here was overall so-so. I traveled with two family members.

Pros:
- The English breakfast was included. Very hearty and pretty yummy.
- The front staff were friendly and accommodating
- They gave us free waters when we asked for it and let us borrow a bottle opener.
- The location is great, close to many tube and bus stops! Walkable to the hip Oxford Street and the educational British Museum.
- Beds and towels were clean. We actually got about 20 towels for 3 people!
- There is a hairdryer and power converter in the room.

Cons:
- The hotel was a bit old - the carpet was a little dirty, one day our bathroom pipes smelled of sewage, the toilet tank took maybe 10 minutes to fill.
- It was a little hard to communicate with the staff sometimes and there were some misunderstandings.
- Sorta wish there was a fridge we could have used, but maybe that's asking for much.

There are a lot of hotels on this street, so look around, but it was overall a pretty enjoyable and comfortable stay! You won't go wrong staying here.

The central location in Bloomsbury is excellent – just a few minute stroll will take you to Covent Garden / Oxford Street / Soho – no hassle or fuss. I love the friendly staff - they always take special care to make my stay as enjoyable possible. The breakfast is generous & simply delicious! But most importantly I love to unwind & relax in the comfortable rooms after a busy day of meetings & shopping for a good night’s sleep. I recommend the Regency House Hotel – as I will most certainly always stop over here.
