I stayed three nights at the Martel Guest House in early March, 2005, and found the accomodations comfortable, the facilities clean, and the location very pleasant. I almost didn't write this review to keep the place a secret, but owe it to the owner to commend him on a fine place. This is not the Ritz, but neither is it a disaster. Golders Green has several kosher establishments (try the fish and chips place) and the tube and bus station are a reasonably short walk from this B & B. I arrived at Cricklewood train station (King's Cross Thameslink line) and needed a taxi to bring me the rest of the way, but my luggage was more than I could carry on the tube anyway. I was very satisfied with my reasonably priced room, although it is a bit rough around the edges (sort of like home :-) The owner allowed me to have two parcels mailed to me in advance of my arrival, and I felt safe and happy in the neighborhood. By the way, there are Starbucks and Costa coffee shops between the B&B and the tube station, and the Starbucks has a T-mobile/BT hotspot if you bring your computer with WiFi. An ATM is just around the corner.
